Reckoning - 11. Chapter 11
As the forensic crew work on Paul Riser remains, Artie and AJ look over his studio apartment.
“Let’s see if I got this,” Artie said, wearing latex gloves and holding his note pad. AJ listened as he searched through papers on a desk. “We have a single male living…” nodding his head. “… moderately well for an entrepreneur suddenly does a header out his front window. Why? Money problems? He has expensive taste for clothes and watches. I saw three Vintage Rolexes on the dresser.”
“Will from what I can see he paid his bills on time and even his credit cards.”
Artie moved to the window. “Nothing points to a struggle but we’ll know after they dust the place.”
AJ moved to the bed where a duffle bag sat. “He was packing a bag,” he removed clothes and a toiletries bag when something sparked his interest. “What’s this?” He brought out an unsealed envelope that wasn’t hiding its contents. “It appears to be 1,500 in cash.” He then saw a slip of paper. “There’s a name.” AJ stopped talking.
“A name?” Artie said walking over.
AJ looked at Artie, not sure how to tell him.
“Come on, what’s the name.” He snatched the piece of paper from him and read. “Adam Potter. Well, that’s just FUCKING GREAT!”
