Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 5 - Jan. 11)

    By wildone

First a disclaimer, I'm tired and none of me editors are around to read the wrap up for me   I hate to say but the first couple of weeks have been terrible for our US friends and neighbours it seems. With LA burning down and the east and southeast getting blasted by ice and snow, I have to say I hope that all of them are okay  I'm sure there is other places too that are having strange and wakey weather too, like Friday we had an actual thunderstorm (rain) and a blizzard Saturday night. January CSR Discussion Day: All Wet Series by Myr

I hope you weren't intimidated by the word series! It's just a little over 10k in length for all the short stories in the series, but boy are they fun to read. What did you think about Myr's scifi psionic storylines? Share your thoughts below! But first, of course, enjoy my interview with him! Are you a person who makes their bed in the morning, or do you not see much point? I make the bed once per week to avoid wear and tear on the sheets. What’s something personal about you peop

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 17 - Jan. 23)

First and foremost, let me apologize ahead of time. This blog has been completely done on my iPhone 😁. It appears my computer won’t start anymore 😢. But shall we see how this goes? If any staff see any blaring errors, feel free to jump in and edit 😏. Or everyone can point them out and laugh at me   On Monday Cia was here to bring us the January Classic Author: If that wasn’t enough to entice you, how about checking out the January Classic Author Excerpt: Then on Thursday, Renee

COVID is just the Flu!

I swear if I hear one more person say that COVID is just the Flu, I might knock their teeth out!  I’ve had the Flu many times in my 47 years on this Earth and I this is NOTHING like the Flu.  I caught it 4 months ago.  It was a brutal 10 days of high fevers, awful cough, chest/lung pain, whole body aches, ear infection, lose smell and taste,  I even passed out a few times… I really thought I was going to die! Mine was a heavy viral load, so I kept testing positive for 6 weeks. (Ne

Pacing

If I was in the back seat of a taxi (Or an Uber)...and the driver took a couple of suspicious left or right turns without asking me, or had a shortcut that I didn't quite recognize...my first question would be, "Hey, where the hell are you taking me? What's happening here?" If the driver was racing down the streets at breakneck speeds, or if they were slowing around as if I had all damn day to get where I wanted to go...I would be thrown off, and probably pretty frustrated. When it comes to

Vows

The other evening a friend said to me; "The hard times are when I think about my vows to my husband. And that helps. We all have troubles, but we can be the constant in the lives of those we love. There's something sublime and wonderful about that." He's right, of course. Being there for others, a partner or friend, is a wonderful feeling.  Those vows we make when we marry are not just words to be said because 'that's what you do'.  No. They are and should be words held in the highest regar

Silent Night

It may be a tad late to let you all know, but my favorite Christmas song is Silent Night. The tone, the pace, and the words all echo in my head. And I had a beautiful silent night.  As an overnight worker, my days off work have become silent nights. Noah soundly asleep, along with my neighboring Kentucky residents, and I just wind down. My muscles get a good relaxing rest. No stocking of groceries, no lifting pallets onto stacks, no loud cardboard balers screeching from the back-dock. Pure

Prompt 852 and Prompt 853

Hello all and welcome to another Prompt Friday. Are you ready for another set of teasers? Well, here they are. Prompt 852 - Creative Tag - First Line "Oh, damn. Now what?" Prompt 853 - Creative Tag - The Library The librarian slowly crossed the room, carefully holding the small crystal on a pillowed tray. "Here is the life you wished to see. Anthology Entry Revisited: The Teacup

I'm going to try a new feature. This year, each story will get it's own day, in the future, it will depend on how many entries we have for the previous years anthologies. Sometimes, there might have to be two entries for each of these blogs. Each of these blogs will begin with a reminder of the upcoming anthology, and then we'll take a brief look at one of the anthology entries from the previous year. So, let's get started!!! Upcoming Anthology Due: April 1, 2021 Top Themes On the

My Whole World Is a Mess!

Folks...y'all...I'm just the worst. My ADHD has caught up to me. My world is crumbling around me as I know it.  I am having two completely devastating crises at the same time, and I'm stuggle-bussing at the moment. I blame one on myself, and the other on Noah.  So...I'm blaming Noah...for the loss of essential information that I, supposedly learned in elementary school. I couldn't tell if I was just having one of my blonde moments, or if I have legitimately lost some of my memory, but

Oh, Jeez!

Yeah, look at that title, and you just have to know I'm in a pickle. A kosher dill pickle. Not a spear, not a chip, not even relish. A whole dill pickle. No butter or sea salt to be found. And most certainly not sugar free.  I...received a comment on a chapter of Love in the Shadows, which is now almost complete! All chapters are posted, but some minor editing needs to be accomplished. But...this comment. Ooooh, it was a juicy one. A big, juicy pickle. And because of reading this comment be

Welcome to 2021 and a new series of Classic Author features. A lot of these stories are older ones you might not have read before, since many of our Classic Authors aren't active on the site anymore. Enjoy this year's features starting with Gabriel Morgan's short story, Days of Farewell, as we say farewell (and good riddance! to 2020). It's all about the goodbye.    Length: 705 words Description: A Short Story. Thanks to John Mellencamp for the title and story prompt. A

Writing and focus on disabled gay characters

Well just to make it clear for people who do not know, I suffer from Congenital Glaucoma, I was born with bad eyesight, and am legally blind with very low vision. One thing I've learned as I read stories, there really isn't much diversity or representation of people with disabilities in various gay fiction genres. People like me exist throughout the world in various forms; for instance, my last boyfriend was deaf, but it very hard for me to find any kind of story that reflect that kind of relati
