Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 12 - Jul. 18)

    By wildone

We had an interesting discussion last week with the Weekly Wrap Up. I see the weather has broke in some places and yet others is getting worse 😮  Up here in Canada, it is so hot and dry we are burning up. Over 1000 wildfires going on right now   I wouldn't go camping now unless it was on a river or lake shore.  So back to one of the parts of the camping theme, I mentioned about swimming. So if you never went camping, or you like 5 star service in a hotel or you camped on a lake or you

Utterly Disgusted Right Now

So over 40 million people decided to hand over control of the country to a racist, homophobic, sexist xenophobe who starred on a realty show.   I fucking blame the DNC for failing to connect Hilary with the voters.   Just disgusted. Completely and totally disgusted. I think I'm done with caring about politics. May God help us through these next four years. Or actually, may god help Trump when the working class straight white males who voted for him realize that he isn't actually going to bri

Health Issue 2016

This story begins almost a week ago on Tuesday, 11/1/2016.   I went online to order a refill of Novalog for my insulin pump. After going thru the process, it tells me that they need to get my doctors permission to renew the script and should be available after two pm Thursday. On Wednesday, I called the Doctors office to talk to her nurse. I wind up leaving a message for her to see if I can get some samples to use while I waited. I knew I wasn't going to have enough to last until the Pharmacy

My Vote Of Conscience As A Honest American Citizen

Well before I return to the Pit tomorrow, I should tell you my vote:   So, here's it is, I voted for ...Gary Johnson. I can't vote for Clinton and I cannot support Donald Trump even in spirit.   Why did I not choose either candidate and instead chose a guy who has been ridiculed for his lack of foreign policy experience?   Reality is, I believe in something beyond just candidates and the current election. Despite all his flaws, Gary Johnson is one thing that neither Clinton or Trump is: He

Being Fixed

Not that kinda 'fixed'!   The last couple of months have been trying, personally, but things seem to be coming together. Let me tell you self-diagnosis can be a wonderful thing, if you're honest and like to research things.   So after three horribly painful attacks that involved my upper chest front and back, plenty of nausea and some vomiting, Google and I figured I had an issue with my gallbladder.   I put myself on a very low fat diet immediately. No more horrific painful 4 hour bouts i

I Voted For The First Time!

I'm still on cloud 9!   So, earlier this afternoon, I went to cast my vote for the 2016 Election.   For President: From the get-go, I would not be voting for either Trump or Clinton. Trump is a buffoon and too unpredictable and volatile (especially when it comes to international matters) to be our president. Clinton, she has so much baggage with an array of scandals (real or imagined) and she is too much of a warhawk for my liking. In the end, I voted for Jill Stein, because

The Ending Through The Hooded Bridge Part 4

Through the Hooded Bridge   Part IV: The Horror in Truth   As a shout out, I want to thanks Kitt again for the marvelous job of editing she did for this story.   Now onto the main event, can you imagine seeing the end of the world in a perfect 3D image from something like an Oculus Rift or a HTC Vive system. Photo-realistic images have been around for a decade and 3D video for at lest 2-3 years in mass consumption, so a 3D video from a drone is not that far off in our future and I recall

Through The Hooded Bridge Part 3

Through the Hooded Bridge   Part 3: The Arcology (aka. Why did all this happen?)   An Arcology is an interesting concept, some of you, like me played SimCity 2000, remember this as the ultimate achievement in the game if you can build a city to the level of creating Arcologies that can house thousands of people with all the necessary elements of industrial, commercial, and even agricultural use combined together in one structure.   I am also introducing the Triumvirs: Edwin, an elderly ga

1St Half Of Through The Hooded Bridge

Here's some Author's Thoughts just a movie director's/actor's commentary on my newest story: Through the Hooded Bridge   Part I: Rites of the Fall   I think some people remember wild times, if they went to college. Parties, alcohol, drugs, sex, and just the freedom of the moment without a care in the world.   In this opening segment, which will tie back to the ending sequences in terms of logical progression, it is like the farewell hurrah for all the promises and joys before you enter a "

I Missed Out On Progress

I guess I'm lucky enough to have been a child of the 90s and 2000s. I came of age right as the country's attitude toward homosexuality was undergoing a massive forward shift. Although I am still old enough to remember when gay men were portrayed as 2-d stereotypical characters with a total lack of depth or humanness. I grew up with a pretty negative image of gay men, and it contributed to a lot of self-hate, depression, and loathing that took a long time to get over.   A couple weeks ago, my b

Disconnecting

On October 30th, 2016, I will take the first true vacation from work I’ve had in five years. I specify it as a ‘true’ vacation because I became terribly sick during each of the times I’ve taken off prior to this one. I’m crossing my fingers that this doesn’t happen again.   I need a break, from work, from writing, from the internet; I need a break from everything, really. I need some time to reflect, for introspection and spiritual healing. Last year I heavily researched Samhain and discovered

Uk- A Pardon Without An Apology For Bigotry

This is not a political issue, it's not even an American issue, but it is something I do feel strongly about. When it comes to gay rights, I am far more progressive than anyone can guess.   At it's heart is the belief that a pardon for an unjust crime is the best way to move people and society forward from its dark ages of bigotry. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-britain-gays-pardon-idUSKCN12K1BB I don't like the idea of a Pardon for a crime that was unjustly created against same sex relat

Desert Island Books

So I made a topic on this over in The Lounge, and asked people about their six Desert Island Books, the ones they couldn't live without. I wanted to keep my reply here too, for posterity, and because my top books have changed over recent years as I have re-found books from my past I am reading to my son. Here they are, in the order I first discovered them.   The Tale of Peter Rabbit - Beatrix Potter Who couldn't love Peter and his gorgeous blue coat? I don't quite know the whole off my heart,

Stories Update

Hey y'all It's been a while since I have been properly active on GA. I was not being able to talk to my GA friends. It is mostly because I don't have a computer for now. I used to share one with my mother but they moved to a different place the past month. I do miss having deep and light conversations with the people here and it's been a while since I have done any reading . But I am actually writing this blog to give an update on my stories. If anyone if following my stuff, they'll notice tha

Through The Hooded Bridge: What To Expect From My Halloween Story?

Just finished it today: 43 pages, 18K words, broken into 4 parts, and have several picture illustrations that I will upload into gallery as I am posting the mini-series.   Here's some facts:   1. It is a Sci-Fi, Horror, and at times critiques of modern human civilization, politics, and value systems. I also touched on areas of LGBT rights that might be a bit controversial. 2. I started writing this at the start of October in anticipation of Halloween, it was originally meant to be a 4K word

Bottom(Less) Tales In Vegas

I’m back...and this blog entry is sponsored by “wingtip shoes” and candy apple cigarettes.   I could look this up but I’m a bit too much on the lazy side to figure out how long it’s been since I last posted a blog entry. But I’m sure it’s so long ago that even my one loyal reader has given up on checking my outdated blog and has disappeared into the ether. Unfortunately I am regulated to posting to those that have no idea who I am or realize the sheer boredom the next few minutes will bring

I Should Be Sleeping. Instead, I'm Planning My Future

I'm going to go back and get my Master's degree. I already have Bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Education, and a diploma in Adult Education. The MA in Political Science is a bit of unfinished business, one that I swore I'd go and finish up. It's been years since I wrote an academic essay, but such skills don't usually atrophy over time. I... I want this. Not just for the sake of having an MA, but because politics is something I've grown to love from both the outsider's drama of it, a

Writing: Where I Am

It has been so long since I wrote an actual story, that I think it’s time that I wrote were exactly I am with it. To be honest, this was inspired by four people: Comicality, craftingmom, Parker Owens, and northie.   Yesterday, Comsie posted a topic about the harassment he experienced due to leaving some of his stories unattended to. And it got me thinking of my own stories. While I certainly never experienced any harassment over any of my stories, it made me examine how long it takes for me to

As Falling Apart Comes To A Close... Here's Where I Am...

Well, after ten long months, Falling Apart is coming to its conclusion. Sorry it has taken so long, but it is also my longest story to date. I hope it was worth waiting for. So now that FA is done, I'm asking myself, what next?   I did write an anthology story for the Fall Blindsided theme. I am still trying to think of a follow up for Santa's little Helper, hopefully even in time for this Christmas. And I'd really like to maybe use a few prompts again. Maybe even do the Special Antholog

Get Up And Face The Day

Husband comes home tomorrow. It's been a long time, and it seems like forever since I wrote to tell you all he was leaving. Home tomorrow, and it stills feels like forever away. I have to get through another long night with the bed cold and empty next to me until Dashi jumps up onto it and snugs so hard into my shoulder he practically pushes me out. Another morning walking with the Goblin strapped to my back, trying to convince the teething Goblin to eat breakfast. One more moment when I will ge

Shackles

Music's always been important to me. Even though I'm as tone deaf as you can get. While everyone's trying to figure out what a certain candidate for public office meant when he said the shackles had been removed, this is the first thing that came to my mind:     The Victore Calderon remix in his E=VC2 album is even better!

October 2006

Ten years ago today, I left work and headed to my car, cursing the light snowfall. While not unheard of, snow in October is rare in my area, especially early October. I headed home, figuring that it would stop and melt off fairly quickly--a dusting, at most. By the time I turned onto my street, it was evident that this was no mere dusting, and we were in for a lake effect storm. On October 12th. I made it home early enough that I was able to park in my driveway. I spent the evening listeni
