November CSR Discussion Day: Hustle by Talo Segura

    By Cia

Wow, November already. With the year almost over, I wanted to keep featuring things that kept readers guessing and challenge the idea of the traditional reading genres and stories. What did you think of Hustle? Share your thoughts below, but first, the interview!! Chocolate or Vanilla? I have to cheat... both! What's your favorite room in your home? Do you plot or write there? I don't have a favourite room and I write where ever I find myself alone and not being disturbed, of

Okay so, here's the deal. I was just done working out at about 4:30 p.m. Despite sweating like a pig, I didn't go straight to the shower, instead, I hang around the house, wasting time, waiting for my sis to come home. I was alone at the time, and I need to open the gate for her. Seeing that I can't wait much longer, I close the front door as a signal that I'm busy and can't open the damn gate for anyone, so they'll have to do it themselves, and head to the bathroom. The heater was on and it was

mmromance Anthology Story Sent

My story for mmromance Loves Landscape Athology has now been sent, I am just waiting to hear what their editor Barb thinks.       The story is called CHAPMISTRES VIEW - ADAM AND BEN.       As the title says the story is about Adam and Ben.       Ben Smith (or is that his name?) is a new witch night nurse at the healing clinic, he is running from his past and doesn't want it to find him.       Adam Rickman is an Elder on the vampire council and at nearly 2000 years old had given u

Rock bottom

My brain is a mire, where every day I sink Into deeper regions that seem only fit For less than subtle minds, and only think Rock bottom's a place it will never hit.

Which bonds are the strongest ones we make? – Those of shared compassion, or like-felt pain; Which dearer to lose, or stronger to stake; And which one to turn, when neither is sane?

I'm Back again....Damn that was a rough couple weeks

Let's go through a recap of why I haven't been on lately:   My Grandmother fell in her elder housing unit, she had to be rushed to Tufts Medical Center in Boston. At 88 years old, she is growing more and more feeble and senile, tragically.   She was rushed first to the emergency room and inspected, we all thought it was just a fall, but then a deeper CT scan revealed a big problem. She had blood build up in her lung, a substantial amount that blocked air in her right lung specifically. They

Baseball is back

I came across an article today that may not make any sense to someone unfamiliar with baseball, but makes perfect sense to me.   In essence the argument is made that baseball is all about the anticipation. But the author in the article cited does a much better job than I ever could:     http://theweek.com/article/index/259600/yes-baseball-is-boring-thats-exactly-what-makes-it-so-great   I would only add that the pace of the game allows the fans to interact more and perhaps this is why

eBook Review: Straight Shooter by Heidi Belleau

Straight Shooter by Heidi Belleau   It's out! I thought I'd share this review today, though I read Straight Shooter a bit back as an ARC. What can I say? I never pass up a chance to get a Heidi Belleau story. At first, I was pretty leery after I read the description. For all my open-mindedness about kinks, humiliation just doesn't do it for me. It makes me pretty uncomfortable, actually, because the shades of denigration usually feel more damaging than anything else. Plus, I somehow get embar

News from the Front

In Mississippi our wise politicians have passed a much needed Religious Freedom Law.   Now you don't have to do anything that offends your religion.   Since slavery is biblical, I'm wondering when that is going to start back up.   Anyhow- here's a link to local paper :>> http://www.clarionledger.com/viewart/20140403/NEWS010504/304030023/Gov-Bryant-signs-religious-practices-bill   Here is my counter attack published in the same paper today.       Well... the war continues. Mozzila, gay marriage and power of social networks

http://abcnews.go.com/Business/mozilla-ceo-resigns-calif-gay-marriage-ban-campaign/story?id=23181711   Mozzila's CEO had to step down after it was revealed that he supported Proposition 8 banning gay marriage in California. Not only had he face the opposition from employees, the last nail in his coffin most probably came from online dating site OKCupid that blocked access to their website via Firefox.

The Communion

There are many stages of making love First there is the Look A Look, that which can melt the stars and feed a million souls   Then the Unveiling Like that of the most precious of the presents A slow sensuous unwrap   The Indulgence is next Deliberate movements across the landscape Appraising the scenery of touch   Then comes the Immaculate kiss A divine surrender of a watchful heart And the rest is a blur of motions of negative spaces   Until finally past the soaring heights of the steep

Love, Exclusion and Identity.

Whom we love is as much a statement about those whom we reject. In the glut of romantic fiction out there, a lot of books gloss over the rejection inherent in the romantic love because really why do we want to feel sad for the poor sod when there's a ooey gooey love to gush over. We gloss it over. We find ways to minimize it. Or we turn the rejected character into an asshole, someone who deserved it, a crazy idiot, or worse, an other.   This brings me back to the book I was reading Bitter Eden

Shame on Tennessee

Since we can celebrate gay marriage in the UK in the Lounge but not shame the mandatory counselling sponsored by the Bachmanns (apparently they are politicians, I would call them differently), I had to migrate this report about a new vomit inducing part of public school curriculum in Tennessee to this blog: http://nationalrepor...inning-may-1st/ Just to quote: "We bring the gay demons out of these individuals so they can become who god intended them to be." “A child has to choose to become g

Bitter Eden

Through NetGalley I got a copy of Bitter Eden by Tatamkhulu Afrika. I'm still working my way through it, but I would definitely recommend it if you're looking high brow queer fiction.. Yeah, yeah. it's literary fiction, but this is the literary fiction done right. Deep and vivaciously haunting with its imagery, yet without the dreary pretentiousness or unlikable characters associated with literary fiction. No, the book isn't easy to read, but you would want to slow down anyway to enjoy its every

Thorn's Quick & Easy Guacamole

A simple recipe today. Guacamole is my favourite dip, and it's so easy to make. No taco night is complete without it. You can do it in a food processor if you like, but if the avocado is ripe enough and you don't mind it a bit chunky, you can literally just mash it with a fork.     Ingredients:   2 ripe avocados 1 tomato lemon juice paprika powder chilli powder OR hot chilli sauce (sriracha or the like)     1. Slice the avocados in half and remove the pits. Use a spoon to dig the avo

Losing my fun Aunt

It is funny how families spread out across a country how you wish you had more memories of certain family members than what you had the opportunity to, after they pass away.   Once such person was my Auntie Nancy who recently passed away.   I remember meeting her when I was about 5 years old when she started dating my Dad's brother when he moved out West from Central Canada and ended up boarding at my Mom's parents house (confusing I know).   I remember that wedding when Auntie Nancy becam

thoughts

So I should be sleeping, because I'm supposed to be getting up in the morning and going to compete, only, despite the time spent training and helping to set up tonight, i really don't want to go. I always loved to complete, especially when i was younger, but these last few years, the thought of having to go out there in a ring in front of people leaves me sitting up the night before in tears, trying to think of a million and one excuses to just skip out and go hide some where. I've felt that fee

Television Without Pity To Close It's Doors on May 31st

The iconic pop culture media website, TWOP, is closing its door. It's a total bummer. I grew up on posting on the site. I started posting there when I was 14 years old, in the spring of 2000. That is literally half of my life. I remember back in those days, my posts would likely revolve around the WB line-up...Dawson's Creek, Buffy, Popular (THAT was a big one for me because the board there was really active), Roswell (which was able to have 3 seasons instead of just 1 because the members of then

Britain - First Gay Marriage on Saturday!

Gay marriage becomes legal in Britain as from midnight tomorrow, 28/29 March.   Here's a commentary from The Daily Telegraph:     Why gay marriage deserves to quietly disappear   Much has been written about the importance of this weekend and rightly so but once we have seen the inevitable ‘first couple’ on the news, this story deserves to quietly disappear. Whilst it has been wonderful to hear the positive debate, the debate has inevitably brought out the ugly and I for one will be glad n

House Guardians

Okay,   So, my sis had a weird dream one night about three people at our home. My brother ask if they were two guys and a woman. Surprisingly, my sister said they were. She said they were just standing around and staring at the furniture, the woman in my parents's room, one guy at the back door, but she can't tell where the other guy was. She assumed they were burglars, and actually talked to one of the many dogs around the house, asking it to guard the house. It talked back and promised to d
