    Summer Resolutions, Anyone?

more about my crazy mother

We went to our lake house over the weekend because it was memorial day weekend and we always do. Well, my lovely mother forgot to clean out the freezer the last time we were there (which was in September) so there was an appetizing mixture of decaying hamburger meat and Italian sausage in the freezer. Yearbook lady...

Well ... that was fun

So, I got to the Chinese department office about a half hour early and chatted with one of the secretaries for a while, and she gave me all of the information I need to get through the gazillions of procedures I have to follow once the final draft of my thesis is completed, which includes converting my MS Word document into PDF format (which I have no clue how to do), get three hardcover and one softcover copies of my thesis made, upload the PDF file of my thesis to the library's electronic thes

Typhoons & Landladies

There's a big ass typhoon that's hitting Hong Kong and southern China now, and we're getting hit by the outer bands of rain. Please, don't feel my pain

Ok, so I had the surgery yesterday and the doctoer removed the tumor. We have to go back today for a followup at the doctors actual office somewhere in Norfolk. When we're there, I think I'm gonna give this guy a piece of my mind. He promised me that it wouldn't hurt, and that I would hardly know what happened. The truth is I'm miserable. And maybe I'm just being grouchy, but I really think this jerk either lied to me or he screwed somthing up and I'm not supposed to feel this sore and tender.

Woo-hoo!

I won! I won! I won!   I have recently started hanging out on E-bay. It's a really cool place to pick up things at a bargain.   I got a copy of IBM's DB2 for the PC for $25. A new purchase would cost me hundreds. Computer books , science and text books- always WAY overpriced new can be got for a song on E-bay. I got my Object Oriented Programming in C++ for $10 (90$ at the bookstore). College book stores- what a racket!   What I'm really pleased about is the auction I won tonight. I found
