The junco wakes before the dawn disturbing all the crows; their caws explode across the lawn, and so the morning goes, Bright cardinals then greet the day, they call for a 'wet year;' and kingfishers will fly away across the waters clear; the chorus swells with myriad sound to penetrate my brain, and vainly do I grope around, I've overslept again. Quite a morning. I loved the kingfishers and the humour in last line. Nice poem Parker... 3 1 Link to comment

It's preformed by the amazing Alberta Hunter, circa 1980. I hope you can watch the vid. Here are the lyrics: Without a Song by Billy Rose, Edward Eliscu, Vincent Youmans Without a song the day would never end Without a song the road would never bend When things go wrong a man ain't got a friend Without a song That field of corn would never see a plow That field of corn would be deserted now A man is born but he's no good no how Without a song I got my trouble and woe but, sure as I know, the Jordan will roll And I'll get along as long as a song, strong in my soul I'll never know what makes the rain to fall I'll never know what makes that grass so tall I only know there ain't no love at all Without a song I've-a got my trouble and woe and, sure as I know, the Jordan will roll And I'll get along as long as a song, strong in my soul I'll-a never know what makes that rain to fall I'll never know what makes the grass so tall I only know there ain't no love at all Without a song _ Like everybody else, I've fallen for the old lady too. I know my wheels are turning, but I am still a student to attempt this kind of stunt. So I'll be a reader for today. Thanks for sharing this with us all... 4 Link to comment

Popular Post AC Benus
A little trifle. If you like it, please see here. Equality has a mark and symbol – A brave set where curves and lines extend, And their chance of meeting is not dismal, For though separate, their motion is a blend. I don’t want any misunderstanding To ever stick between us good or bad, For Love's nothing, if not always mending: A frown to a smile; laughter for the sad. So sixty-nine must be you and I, The perfect dance immortal, ever-set To chase and follow, and never die, Where one energy fuels both in duet. Round and round we may go, but there breed Infinite Love for the other to feed. _ 5 4 Link to comment

Popular Post AC Benus
In looking through my old cooking notebook, I found this poem dated June 7th, 1990. A bit of warmth for our slide into autumn. Spring is beautiful Floating Fiery winged stars flit through the trees As real ones ride above A nocturnal chorus of light All of it floating All of it saying Spring is beautiful It’s a positive Pleasure To watch them move freely above my head 5 4 Link to comment

northie
I'm not Myr - but I think he's trying to create some sub-groups in effect. So, again making poetry separate and distinct from the general writers group. Rather than just a tab. Sort of back to where we were before. 1 Link to comment

Not closing it down, but just like with "Writer's Corner" all the topics for Poetry were moved into the new "Poetry Writer's Club". 1 Link to comment

This will help them clean main forum page from too much clutter. Easier to navigate. Link to comment
Renee Stevens
One great thing about Poetry being moved into a club, is that if you click on the Poetry Resources tab, I believe that each Poetry Prompt could be posted there, especially since they generally include links to information about that type of poem.
