Occasional Poetry - 1. Sentinel

div>A friend told me I had to post this. Hope it appeals to you.

One orange tree:
autumn's lone surviving blaze of maple,
splashed like paint on a sea of brown,
A vandal's mark on bleak November's hillside.

How long until all Polaris' mighty arms
sweep away the Sun's last lonely sentinels?

It is their doom,
and mine, I now contemplate.

And I am lost.

So nice to see more poetry in here! I really felt that autumn melancholy. Also, I wish more people dare to be that maple in a sea of brown. It takes courage and courage is sorely needed these days.

If you want ideas, try the poetry prompts? A great way to both learn more on poetry and push yourself to write things you never thought possible. It has given me so much. And it's fun!

Parker, this poem is just terrific. I love it. It is autumn and an ending, and it does come to trees and us.

I could see the colour and feel the cold.

So good, beautiful.

You must write when you feel it.

Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you, Tim, for your encouragement, your kindness and your thoughts. You inspired this. A sunny hill side begged for a tiny bit of notoriety, and your example kind of made it happen. :)

A wonderful poem Parker! I have read your poems in LPW and I love each one, it was a delight to see a poem by you in the story feed :)

Overall, I ditto Tim. You are truly a talented writer

Thank you so much for your kind words. Tim will tell you I was scared to share it. LPW is fun, but this was more serious. Very glad you liked it.

You are most kind to review this. Funny how just one tree can light up a hillside, but a whole landscape full of them looks so very different.

"A vandal's mark on bleak November's hillside"... I love this line. It finishes off the picture beautifully. I definitely want to hear more of your poetry. Well done, Parker. You made me feel fall. Cheers... Gary...

Thank you. It was very kind of you to review this. Tim has been pushing me and inspiring me; I'm no poet. This was a very long time coming.
