Occasional Poetry - 69. Pride Around The World

For all my brothers and sisters around the globe.

I cheer

my proud brothers,

storied men, courage clad,

robed in brightest declarative

garments;

but while

we celebrate joys and triumphs,

forget not those drab dressed

shadows who just

survive.

I welcome all comments. Thank you.

:kiss:  Your non-rhyming poetry is just as brilliant as your rhyming. ;)  Here's another hug

Thank you Val. In parts of the world it is difficult, even fatal, to march in open pride as they did in Washington today.

A beautiful tribute to the people and countries who don't experience any freedoms. Individual Pride is too powerful to be controlled forever.

Thank you. You are so right; legislated bigotry cannot stand.

Like Northie, That last line made me think of those who didn't make it too. Your poem is a wonderful tribute to all Parker..

Thank you for reading and connecting with this.

Good message, Parker, and well composed. There are two sides to Pride. The celebration, and the remembering of where we used to be, and often still are... I/we have seen so many things impossible to forget.

Thank you, Gary. As so often happens, you intuit my meaning so easily.

You've made this form your own. The words flow in beautiful rythym, and yet, they evoke an almost despairing saddness for those that dwell in places of intolerance.

Dugh, thank you. That there are those who must hide for fear of their lives or livelihoods compels me to speak. You're right. I find it terribly sad.

It's not a very happy poem, but it's still brilliant. *waves rainbow flag for all*

And now, even long after I should have responded to you, dear brother, I wave that flag. For pride, for love, for support - as a beacon of hope.
