Occasional Poetry - 43. Morning After

em>Some reflections are best in the morning. This one is mercifully short.
Poetry is a
conversation held between
brain, heart and spirit;
intellect will serve
effervescent wine; wit, words;
the heart likes deep red
barrel-aged longing;
but beware the clear moonshine
distilled by the soul.

One could become drunk on words such as these, the distillations of a poet.

The analogies just keep coming, don't they? Thanks!

Oh, fascinating. A trinitas of spirit(s). Very beautiful in the context of both Christian theology and the Ancient Egyptian faith that lead to it.

Wonderful!

Terrific comparisons, each one of them... I loved how you left the most potent for the soul, incorporating a warning. Also the 'red' and 'longing' for the heart... beautiful! Of course, sparkling effervescence suits the intellect... I like this one... very much... cheers... Gary....

Perfect and so true (as I'm discovering ;) ).

Short poem = shorter review ... :)

The company and the combination are heady; but do be careful about the hangover the next morning! Thanks for reflecting on this one...

Wonderful!

Thanks for seeing so deeply into this set of haiku pearls. I cannot attempt theology, but I tried to explain what happens when a subject or phrase comes to mind. Better than tryingm to make it into a three dimensional mathematics problem...I really appreciate your comments! :)

I am glad you liked this one Gary. So often, writing a poem feels like three parts of oneself sitting down and conversing (just shooting the breeze) about subject. But the soul often speaks in the deepest, most memorable registry doesn't it? Thank you so much for your generous words...cheers in return...

Nice one Parker ... where does my rhubarb wine fit in? :)

Great poem!

Glad you liked this one, too. Rhubarb wine! Possibly the intellect served it at the request of the soul...it probably packs a wallop! But I get it goes down so smooooothly. Thanks so much for responding and reflecting on this one.

Haiku proved that someone can create greater things with little words. And with these Haiku you proved how true it is. Such a wonderful Haiku. I loved them. And the descriptions of heart-mind -soul, was just amazing. :thumbup:

Thank you, Emi. A friend of mine called it a "Tri-ku" for stringing three of them together. But it did seem like a perfect form for expressing these thoughts. You are quite right, that three little lines can turn out ideas that are quite powerful.
