Occasional Poetry - 6. For Andy

em>Free verse inspired by a fictional character.

There is a danger

inviting an unknown guest

to your heart's abode.

You risk inspection,

and guarded spaces, once closed,

open to his gaze,

yield up their secrets.

Dusty, long forgotten toys,

embarrassed by day,

write love's histories.

One welcomed stranger can spill

a lifetime of pain

across a wide floor.

No frenzied gathering will

ever return it.

em>Any mistakes are mine, and mine alone. Thanks to Tim for encouragement, always.

Great poem, Parker, It's perfect for Andy. :)

Thanks, Val. Somehow, it just spoke to the fear I sense in that character. Funny how fictional characters just get to you.

Like I said, it's great, Parker. See and people are gonna know it's for Andy. And it could be for lots of us.
It's beautifully written.

Thank you, Tim. And you're right. All we have to do is open the door. It might be a mess, but the guest will be worth it.

This was emotional and honest. I felt it deeply, and it was kind of raw for me. I can see it's for a fictional character, but this was as real as real can be. You are a constant revelation, sir... some inspiring writing here... thank you and cheers... I am a fan... Gary....

Thank you, Gary. Coming from someone as accomplished as yourself, your encouragement means a great deal. Somehow, this one just emerged. Didn't expect it at all. Again, thank you.

Lovely poem, Parker!

It captured Andy's dilemma in a way which let us feel it.

You can't ask for more.

Thank you for your kind comments. This jumped out at me today, must have been lurking in the subconscious for a while...

Very emotional poem Parker. It touches a deeper part of Andy than we already see. Great job..

Thank you for your very kind words, Def. I can't say why this insisted on being written, but there it was on the scrap paper before I knew it. Again, thanks.
