Falls Creek Lessons - Links - 116. Chapter 116

[Dan Cronin]

I’m not being a good host, but Garret getting bashed just wasn’t in the original game plan. I don’t know how it’s going to change things, but I have to find out how he is. He’s been a good roommate, and he’s one of the few people up here who doesn’t seem at all concerned that I’m gay.

What I have to make sure I don’t even hint to Garret is the possible impact on his job. I know from experience how unfeeling the lift company can be. We’re approaching the end of the season, and they’re going to be looking to lay off some towies soon. Garret doesn’t have any seniority, so being off sick is going to make him a tempting target for any staff cuts. The union won’t interfere – they’re in too deeply with the bosses to make waves over one guy.
