If the offer to drop out of the weekend was because he didn’t want to be a fifth wheel, then I’d admire him for it. But when it’s because he’s so obviously homophobic that he doesn’t want to be near my friends, who just happen to be gay, then I’m all for pushing him out the door without stopping.

It’s strange. The times we’ve met before, he’s always been so cool, so happy to see Diane and me and really supportive. He’s even given me a few tips on what Diane would like as a present or treat a few times – tips that always turned out to be very accurate. While I expected some sort of reaction when he found out, I would never have picked him to be so homophobic. Look at him now! He’s just staring straight ahead, as if he can’t even bring himself to look at my friends.
