Since we had the chance on the lift, I tried asking Diane what was going on.

She wouldn’t tell us what had happened, but she did make a cryptic comment about it wouldn’t have happened if Rob had been gay....

Greg’s crash seemed to do something to her too. Paul made a mild joke about Greg falling over where he did to stop us from skiing with them. Diane started to be defensive, with a comment about he was only a beginner, and let him make a few mistakes, when she drifted off mid-sentence. When I turned to look at her, I could see her staring at Rob.

Greg had said back at the lodge that Rob had made a mistake. Maybe she was wondering if she should be allowing him to make a few mistakes too?
