Popular Post Mancunian Posted June 17, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 17, 2023 Something isn't sitting well with me and doesn't feel right. It is very unlike @Carlos Hazday to post like he has and unlike @Carlos Hazday to not respond to posts on his stories. I have messaged him and as yet I have not received any reply, again this is not the @Carlos Hazday that I know. I'm hoping that everything is well with him and wish only good things for him, I am also worried for and about him. I have my fingers crossed that we will hear from him soon. 🤞 2 1 5

Popular Post chris191070 Posted June 20, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 20, 2023 Has anyone heard from @Carlos Hazday yet. Because I've had no reply to my message and I've noticed he's not replied to any recent comments on his stories, which is strange. I'm sending positive thoughts and praying that we here from him soon. 6

This is not normal for @Carlos Hazday, the more time passes without hearing anything the more I am getting worried. If there are any site admin reading these posts can you please see if there is anything you do to find out how @Carlos Hazday is and let us know? 5

Suggested those who have his person contact information (Myr?) reach out to Carlos directly and if they do NOT reach him, to contact local (remove of location by staff) Police to conduct a Wellness Check (as every passing hour can make a life saving difference). You might also contact (removal of names by staff for compliance with privacy guidelines). Please keep us advised. 🙏🏼 1 5

Site Administrator Popular Post Cia Posted June 21, 2023 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted June 21, 2023 @Anton_Cloche @Mancunian Posting other people's personal names and private information is also something we do not do online on GA without permission as well. Please remember that when 'sharing information' such as above; someone might not want their name associated with GA if it is Googled. The GA FMT (staff) have been responding to this situation. We would ask members to respect our member privacy guidelines at this time and to wait patiently for information we can share, which we will do as soon as we can. 10

As I previously stated, if any contact were to be made it needs to be done with sensitivity. To be honest with everyone, I'm not sure if any contact should be made so as to protect @Carlos Hazday's right to privacy. It should be said that there is a direct link to his GA account and stories on Google. 8

Popular Post Mancunian Posted June 21, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 21, 2023 I am heartbroken. GA will not only be quieter in your absence, but it will also be poorer. Carlos, you have been a good friend and will be missed by many and will be missed for an eternity. You will be remembered with love and in your writings, you will forever be a friend, godspeed and god bless. 14 5
Popular Post chris191070 Posted June 21, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 21, 2023 R.I.P Carlos. You will be missed by all. GA has lost a great author and friend to so many of us. 12 5

Popular Post chris191070 Posted June 22, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 22, 2023 (edited) Even in his passing, Carlos kept his loyal readers and friends happy by posting the outlines of the CJ novels he was working on. R.I.P Carlos. You will be remembered on GA for a long time because of CJ, his family and friends. Edited June 22, 2023 by chris191070 1 12
Popular Post JACC Posted June 22, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 22, 2023 (edited) I’m dealing with lots of feelings right now, feelings that I can at best only barely explain: I feel the loss of a good friend (we never met in person), I feel the loss of an anchor in my life, the anchor to staying faithful to create new realities through writing, I feel the loss of a whole family I’ve come to love and cherish, the family I call “CJverse”. I’ve had the honor of being a beta reader for Carlos and I know I am going to miss the banter, the humor, the seriousness of crafting a new, beautiful universe. I’m sitting at home, in a landscape I think Carlos would have loved, still dealing with suggestions for small details in CJ’stories… and realize they’re not coming. It’s just sadness. I’m feeling beyond numb, just sad, just missing a good friend, just missing the many countless hours enjoyed reading Carlos’ stories, vicariously living CJ’s adventures and planning a trip to Florida to share a ride, me in a “rag top”, Carlos on his teal Harley, knowing now it’s no longer going to be. Wherever you are, I thank you, Carlos. From the deepest point in my being. Thanks for writing, for sharing, for encouraging, for unknowingly pushing me through real dark times. I’m not just losing a friend, I’m losing a whole family. And I’ll take my time and will be back sharing verses, sharing (hopefully) light. Just like you. Farewell, dear Carlos. May you find all the light you deserve. Edited June 22, 2023 by JACC Spelling 2 10 7

Popular Post Clancy59 Posted June 22, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 22, 2023 I am so, so sorry to read this. I am sitting here in shock that this should happen so suddenly with no warning. Carlos had given no indication of being ill. I kept reading, hoping that it was all a mistake. Carlos, you will be sadly missed. Your cheerful nature always showed through in both your stories and your commentaries. You supported so many authors on this site and encouraged them to become better at their craft. The ‘CJverse’ will go down in history as one of the most beloved series on the site. You loved so many and many loved you back. Rest in Peace, Carlos. 1 11

And @JACC talked about "... planning a trip to Florida to share a ride, me in a “rag top”, Carlos on his teal Harley..." reminded me of discussed plans to visit during Daytona Bike Week 2024. To which I say to Carlos now, as he cruises endless ribbons of twisty roads towards glorious sunsets: "twist the wrist and keep the shiny side up". With very heavy heart, apologies in advance for the remaining lengthy comment (with Carlos in my ear telling me I am over-working my editing skills). These and all your comments / memories immediately brought back exchanges between Carlos and myself. One this past April included "3 days of shared birthdays as Taurians" - Liebe on April 22nd Earth Day, Carlos on the 23rd and mine on 24th). But a number of discussions in recent years focused on legacies and "unfinished stories". We spoke of authors on GA (and other sites) who simply vanish, without a trace with unfinished stories, novels etc., leaving us to worry and wonder. We discussed and agreed as to possible 'whys', (writing under 'nom de plume', family, etc.), and 3 years ago (over Tinto Verdelho, and me finding some available for him in South FLA) that authors should appoint a Literary Trustee to oversee unfinished works, manuscripts etc., in order to complete or continue stories if that is the author's intent. To this end, Carlos spoke of appointing a family member with legal experience. Carlos also agreed with using detailed 'outlines' or 'storyboards' for chapters and entire stories, both as a guide (memory 'nudge') for the author if they get 'stuck' ('writer's block'); and as clear direction of how they would want their trusted friend editors, co-writers, beta's to use to complete (his) unfinished works. When Carlos' (first of five) postings in this format appeared last Wednesday, it set off alarms, (couldn't reach him or VM). The last four had me reaching out again but to no avail. Finally to his writing 'team', I offer an exchange on Veteran's Day (after Ranger was published) about a line he found interesting in Lt.Col. John McCrea's WW I poem 'In Flanders Fields': "To you from failing hands we throw The torch; ..." (as a request, instruction?). Ride on Carlos, ride on. Que descanse en paz. R.I.P. 💔 I was thinking about what you said about the ‘Literary Trustees’ discussed with Carlos. I think that was a wonderful idea and fervently hope he followed through with it by appointing someone as point or ‘Executor’ of his ‘Literary Trust.’ Goodness knows, he has the outlines left for us. Just a thought. If someone does follow through with this (and I am willing to help, but I am not capable of Carlos’ level of excellence), I might suggest there be some kind of memorial within the CJ story where the guys get word somehow of the passing of their friend from Florida. Maybe he could leave a small bequest for them to remember him by. I have no idea what it could be. It could be something for Liebe—he liked her in the storyline. I don’t know. It’s just a thought. 2 9 2

It’s just a thought I think you have hit the nail right on the head! The outlines Carlos left for 'us' are as detailed as I've ever seen. It's not just an outline, or a guide, or even Hansel & Gretel's trail of crumbs (ow, did 'someone' just tap my head?), it's a GPS with the proper directions. All they need is a 'team' who know Carlos' writing process first hand, to fill in the blanks. And your idea of Ceej, Ozzie and Liebe to mention 'again' the biker writer from Florida, (they did in a previous chapter, and I kidded Carlos about his 'Hitchcock' moment), is a wonderful and fitting tribute @Clancy59. To Carlos' former "helpers", these 5 outlines for stories as intended by Carlos, will fill in the missing years that get CJ to the White House. And if you are granted access to his notes and files, you could do for him, what he and I referred to as "the 007, Ian Fleming solution". Just my thoughts, for what they're worth. Add $20 and you can have a Café Espresso Pequeño ☕y Media Noche 🥪at Las Colinas Café near Carlos'. 🙏🏼 http://lascolinaslatinfood.com/ Edited June 23, 2023 by Anton_Cloche 5 5 2
