Don't blame the low voting, blame the summertime. There were so many people on vacations this year due to lack of vacations during the pandemic. The FOMO was real.

Sorry, don't buy it. if average 107 thousand people read each story, and only 30 people voted, that's not due to the summertime. .  I had a blast though. I really did.

I don't track data or metrics on the site, and I'm glad I don't.  I like to just focus on writing something I like and am proud of.  If I'm happy with it, the rest doesn't matter too much.

Life is too short and I have too much to write. 

The favourite story won and that's it.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Jason, If you look back to the previous anthologies you will see that the number of those commenting is far lower than the number who read. But to be fair that is the same with every story posted on GA. I enjoyed taking part in the SA anthology even though the number who read my story was far lower than others. I didn't take part to win, I took part to enjoy the experience and to try writing in a different genre. Regardless of the numbers, I'm happy with how Hiding In Plain Sight was received, it did far better than I thought it would and feel encouraged by it. I will continue to post stories and take part in future anthologies whether or not they are SA anthologies.

Your are sitting in forth place overall chapter views, not story views, with 1398 views as of five minutes ago. You were also leading overall story page view at the reveal, I stopped looking after the reveal and only focused on chapter views.  I'm only sharing that info because you asked, and you are one of the authors.

That’s also true for stories in general. Fewer comment than follow, and I’m sure that’s fewer than read.

It's not at the top of my priority, but I will try. GA's readership base isn't geared for these kinds of stories, sadly.

Other than me, I haven't seen anyone try a progressive fantasy recently. It's a popular genre in the mainstream, just not everyone's cup of tea.

The summertime could have an effect.  If I am reading on my phone, instead of my home computer, I rarely comment, because it is much more time consuming on a phone than a laptop or desktop.  I might or I might not get back to my desktop to comment on a particular story or chapter.  I am far more likely to comment in winter than in summer, even though I read almost as much.

I didn't see any boxes for voting on stories I read, like rating from 1 to 5 or whatever, so I didn't vote. Overall there were a lot of short stories to read and some weren't short! The story had to grab me from the start to read it, the genre didn't matter. One story I recall was not short, I left it, one took a weird turn, and of the rest I read a few which I liked. I thought the contest idea was a good one, but this thread and comments generally were all over the place. I guess what I'm saying is it was a bit convoluted.

Talo, there was an official thread for voting that @Cia made. This is the discussion thread only, not the voting.

I remember hosting an unofficial GA Halloween-themed and Holiday-themed contests back in the day. It's incredibly hard to get this stuff organized and I was really happy to get 13 authors back then. People like to have free discussions and go off into tangents, the internet world is chaotic. From my standpoint, the "Hidden" event was done pretty well for a diverse group. 

To me, I didn't expect anything from GA's readership on my story, I just wanted to try a new genre on here.

Fun, was the point of the whole contest. It was fun to hang out with all of you. I think it was brave of all the authors that took part.
