Since this has been abandoned for almost ten years or so now, no reason to actually leave a review. For whatever reason, DomLuka decided not to finish the story. It could have been because the author was stuck with no way forward. Out of all the stories DomLuka wrote, In the FishBowl and With Trust are my two favorites. The other ones are okay, a bit angsty and dramatic, The Lo(n)g Way is almost unreadable in places. With Trust, I like to think that as Nelson and Milo are trying to get away on Milo's boat, an accident happens and Milo almost dies. This brings Thom to the realization that life is precious and he could lose his son at any moment like he lost his mother. Frankly, Thom is such a one dimensional character with zero redeeming qualities, I can't see another way to resolve this situation besides the father dying. J

What happened to Calvin. Something about his dress an appearance is foo from when he was last visiting the boys with his “ wife”… the testimony is weak and he does not really seem motivated for his won case…

Andy did the right thing giving the case to David. David has a grandson. Jacob and Kyle need a heart to heart! Tyler is figuring it out that he and Alex were never going to be.

Everyone beat me to the punch with comments, could not agree more!!! He's a diagonal...nearly fell on the floor with that one...once had someone tell me I did my best work laying on my back... Back in the days when I was drinking, there were many a night when I was confronted with my behavior,...simply spot on!!! “Perfect. Sam you and I are going to talk when we get there.” Such a calm, succinctly spoken sentence. No threat at all, yet I suddenly felt like a naughty puppy slinking out of the kitchen with my tail between my legs after I’d been caught exploring the evening’s dinner trash. Yeah, I was in big fucking trouble and for some reason, any verbal chastisement that came from a mild-mannered priest seemed like it’d be worse than any of the physical beatings I’d ever received in my life from my father. Then again, Ben did have The Father, The Son, and the Holy Ghost on his side, so shit might get real soon.

At the time I was born, Dad and Mom owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store. Mom wanted to name me after my dad: Richard Allen. Dad would have none of that. It was told to me that he said to my mom that he would not have people referring to us as "Big Dick and Little Dick." Hence my name: Allen Richard. <- Mom always hated that. While it may be hard to believe, much of this prologue is autobiographical in nature. My Mother was only slightly less than the mother I describe here. One of the differences is that Mother was always searching for another "Richard." By the time I joined the Marine Corps, She had gone through 4 other husbands. When my tour of duty was done, there were two more that I never knew. Make of that whatever you will. Living in or near large cities, most people simply don't intrude upon other family matters unless the abuse is visible, such as constant visible bruising. As you read more, I hope you like the rest of the story!

Quite right, Scrubber. Hopefully just trial and not too much error. Though STDs are not to be trivialized, your comment about them and AIDS is one of the reasons I tend to place my stories in earlier times. I think I can say without it being a "spoiler", that Dallen isn't likely to become an indiscriminate horndog. He's having a lot of experiences, but each is important to the culmination of his discovery process.

The boys made sure they were ready to make the arduous trip to the new job, I am hoping in the recovery gear they bought was the inclusion of a "come-a-long" which is a hand operated winch, or a winch for the vehicle, it may come in handy!!! Sounds like they are off on an adventure that will create memories for a lifetime!!

Yes---Dallen will need to learn what is real and what is untrue by himself through maybe trial and error. I hope his mental connection will give him insight faster. I expect he will not seek or crave multiple partners and will move ahead carefully. But, it is up to Dallen and how he reacts to others now he knows how wonderful sex is and others know about him. These are simplier times with few worried about STD's. AIDS was not identified as a disease until 1981.
