Timothy’s Terrible Prompt Stories - 12. Prompt 199 Here we go again!

“Here we go again!” Back to first line prompts and a normal length.
The date progresses and goes public.
An Eric POV chapter

“Here we go again!”

Eric and Nelson flew apart, their lips tingling from the long and tender kiss they had become lost in.

Jasper was shaking his head at the couple.

“Don’t you guys ever stop? Have you been making out in the kitchen since I left you more than two hours ago?”

Eric wasn’t sure who was blushing the most of him and Nelson, but when Jasper started laughing, they soon joined in.

“You should see your faces, too bad I didn’t get a pic. It would have been the hit of the year at school.”

Nelson snorted.

“Speaking of which, Carolyn called. I promised to whip your ass about sending her to voice mail.”

Jasper sobered up immediately.

“What did she want? I hope she’s not canceling on me?”

Eric and Nelson glanced at each other, and then looked at Jasper with somber faces. Nelson opened his mouth, closed it again and shook his head sadly.

Jasper strode up to him, getting agitated. “What?! For fuck’s sake just tell me!”

Nelson shrugged, “Well, she said to tell you to cancel…” he paused and a smirk started, “…any other plans you have for tonight, since she wants to go out with you. Her night out with the girls was called off.”

Eric had managed to dig his phone out and was filming Jasper’s face. He and Nelson started laughing as the redhead began swearing at them. Once he had calmed down and finished telling them what utter jerks they were, Eric’s phone was safely back in his pocket. He had the feeling Nelson would enjoy the footage later.

“Serves you right for sneaking up on us again, Jazz. Why did you come over, it’s only one o’clock?”

“My mom wanted me to help put all the groceries away, but I told her I promised Eric to take you two to the game early. So she let me eat a quick lunch and come over here. My sisters had to help instead,” Jasper smirked happily at the last part.

“OK, well I guess we’re ready to go, aren’t we?” Nelson asked Eric who nodded. They got their things together including a couple of blankets, since it could be rather cold sitting on the bleachers for two hours. Eric liked the thought of snuggling with Nelson under a blanket.

They drove over to the school in Jasper’s blue pick-up. When they got to the baseball ‘stadium’ (which was really a grass field behind the gym with bleachers along the sides), the varsity team was busy warming up. Eric, Nelson and Jasper dumped their blankets and backpacks on a spot with a good view of the home plate and walked down to the fence.

“Are you sorry about not playing today, Jazz?”

“Nah, my wrist is still a bit dodgy. I’ll be ready for the next game.”

There was a small dugout for the home team and another for the visiting team across home plate. The boys had seen the bus of the visiting team in the parking lot, so they were probably inside getting changed and would come out to have their warm-up soon.

As they walked, Eric took Nelson’s hand. The bleachers were slowly getting populated with friends and family members of both teams. It wasn’t one of the important games, since the team they were playing was not amongst the best in their high school league. On the other hand, most of the guys playing on the baseball team were popular, and since the weather was nice, the chances of a fairly large audience were high.

When they got close to the fence, Eric could see Rob standing by the dugout, discussing something with a fellow team member. His brother suddenly caught sight of them, and a huge grin spread across his face. The other player turned to see what Rob was looking at. He lifted his hand and said, “Hi Jazz.” Then his eyes slid across Nelson and Eric, went down to see their clasped hands, and came back up with a startled look.

Rob had already walked over to the fence and he greeted them enthusiastically, “Hi guys, good to see you.” His eyes also flicked down to the hand of his brother and an even bigger smile settled on his face. He reached out to poke Nelson’s shoulder.

“So, it’s official then? My little brother bagged the hottest guy in school.”

“Rob!” Eric scowled at his brother who seemed determined to help announce his new status to the whole world. Several baseball players had turned at his words, and he was sure people behind them were watching too.

Rob leaned forward and hugged Eric, “I’m proud of you, bro. Let’s see you give him a kiss.”

He stepped back and smirked at his younger brother, who gaped at him, speechless. Rob shrugged and turned his attention back to Nelson.

“Please take good care of my brother, Nelson. He needs lots of hugs and kisses.”

Jasper began laughing and Rob transferred his gaze to the redhead.

“Something I need to know, Jazz?”

“I don’t think you need to worry about your brother getting enough smooches.”

“Is that so?” Rob’s grin practically begged his fellow member of the varsity baseball team to spill the beans. But just then the opposing team came out to the diamond, and the West Hill coach shouted at his players to gather at the dugout. Rob was forced to jog away, but the determined look on his face told Eric that the subject was far from closed.

“Honestly Jazz, did you have to say anything?” Nelson scolded him as the trio made their way to their seats. Before he could answer, they were accosted by Tina, who was dragging two of her drama club friends along.

“See, what did I tell you!” Her high-pitched voice gloated. “Eric’s gay and he’s dating Nelson! It’s soooo cute! Right?!”

Eric and Nelson looked at each other in horror, thinking “Oh no, here we go again!”

I couldn’t resist giving Rob a role to play in this and the next chapter.
