Timothy’s Terrible Prompt Stories - 28. Prompt 239 Just give me a minute, please.

For Team Rob  ^_^

Some typical Rob flirting, banter and teasing.

A Rob POV chapter.

"Just give me a minute, please." Eric turned back and looked at the options again, while Rob rolled his eyes. How difficult could it be to choose two sodas and a bucket of popcorn? Nelson and Jasper had gone to the restroom and let the Perry brothers be in charge of the snacks and drinks. They had tried to hand over money, but Rob had growled a bit and told them to ‘go piss.’ This movie was his treat.

“OK, I want two large cokes and one large popcorn.”

“Finally.” Rob stepped up to the counter and caught the eye of the prettier of the two young women manning this section of the main soda-and-popcorn area. She hurried over, ignoring another guy on her way, and the tall blond jock rewarded her with his best smile.

“How can I help you?” Her return smile was genuine and interested. Maybe honing his flirting skills wouldn’t hurt, now that he was a free man.

“Apart from making my day brighter by talking to me?” Rob leaned on the counter in a way he knew would accentuate his muscular torso in the tight T-shirt he was wearing. “How about your phone number?” He glanced down to those assets he could see, pretty and perky under the uniform, and back up to her face. Hmm, nice mouth too, sensual with a hint of lipstick.

Her eyes got wide and she was obviously speechless. Rob heard Eric snort behind him and felt his brother punch his shoulder. He ignored it along with the hiss of ‘Rob, behave!’ which accompanied it.

“No? Oh well, if you can provide me with four cokes, and two large popcorns, I’m all set.” He tilted his head slightly to one side and adopted the innocent appeal which had won over his ex on several occasions.

She nodded, all flustered, and Rob grinned as she bustled over to get the sodas ready and scoop up two buckets of popcorn. The view was even better now, since the uniform hugged her backside in a most flattering manner.

Eric suddenly squeezed in next to him and leaned in to whisper furiously, “Stop staring at her ass!”

“Why? A cute thing like that is meant to be ogled. Just like the sexy butt of your man.”

Rob saw the quick flash of hurt, anger, and worry on his brother’s face and wanted to sigh and roll his eyes. Eric needed to get over his insecurities, did he really think Rob was jealous of his relationship with Nelson? Or that Rob would stand a chance if he was? Anyone could see the dark-haired junior was head-over-heels in love with Eric and only had eyes for him.

Instead he put his most teasing expression on his face and continued, “…And yours too, bro. Don’t think I haven’t noticed Nelson staring at your ass in a possessive way, or the expression on your face when your boyfriend modeled those black jeans. You wanted him to buy them, didn’t you?”

Eric was saved from answering by the return of the concessionaire with the four sodas in a carrier and two large buckets of popcorn. Rob dug out his wallet and paid while flirting shamelessly. When she finally went over to serve other impatient customers, she was almost glowing, cheeks rosy and a bounce was in her step. Rob noticed how the ‘jilted’ guy seemed to forgive her, when she smiled at him and passed on her good mood with a “Sorry to keep you waiting, sir. How can I help you?”

Rob hadn’t forgotten the mixture of embarrassment and smugness on his brother’s face as he teased him about liking Nelson’s ass in those indecent jeans. Something was going on, but what? He also needed to find a way to convince Eric there was a difference between being able to tell a guy was good-looking and being interested in him romantically. Particularly not his sibling, eewww gross, but not Nelson either, even if Rob might have given it a chance, had Nelson been a chick and not a dude. After all, Rob liked a partner with spunk when challenged, nice eyes, long hair, a sexy ass, and hot mouth, all qualities possessed by the shy junior – well, he hoped Nelson had a hot mouth for more than kissing, for Eric’s sake. But Rob also liked boobs, pussy and an extrovert personality, and Nelson couldn’t provide any of those.

Anyway, nice eyes, a sexy ass and a hot mouth were something which chicks and dudes could have in common, and there was no harm in looking and appreciating the scenery or voicing your approval. Rob was certainly going to point out his brother’s good assets whenever possible, even if he was now off-the-market. Hell, Eric and he were enough alike in looks, and Rob had no false modesty; he knew he was a hunk, and his bro was too. They both worked hard to keep their bodies trim, each in his own way, and Rob had seen the longing glances bestowed on Eric from those infatuated girls in the drama club and elsewhere. Eric seemed oblivious or at times irritated about their attention, and this was what had clued him in on the likelihood of Eric being gay.

Oh yeah, and of course the thunderstruck look on his brother’s face at assembly on the first day at school, as Nelson got up to make a short talk about the GSA. Rob sniggered at the memory; it had only been a few moments before Eric managed to bring his expression under control, but Rob had been looking at him by chance and had seen the desire and longing. No one else had noticed, but he knew his brother well. Eric had the same look at age ten, when they visited friends of their parents, whose border collie had a litter of puppies ready for new homes. Rob scowled at the memory of being unable to persuade his parents to let Eric take one of them home.

His quiet sib hardly ever made any demands and rarely expressed what he longed for, but it only made Rob more determined to fulfill any wish of his. On that first day of school the jock had sworn that if his nerdy bro wanted the shy martial arts and drama club geek, Rob was damn well going to make sure Eric got this adorable puppy. Particularly since Rob knew Nelson had the potential of morphing into a protective, fierce guard dog if anyone threatened him or people he cared about. It had been fucking Mission Impossible, and he’d finally resorted to shock tactics, but the look of happiness on Eric’s face whenever he caught sight of Nelson-the-boyfriend – as now – was worth it.

Eric was carrying the cokes and Rob had the popcorn when Nelson and Jasper joined them in the foyer outside the food concession. Nelson walked straight up to Eric and greeted him with a kiss, and Rob grinned at Jasper. Time to tease, and the redhead seemed to agree.

“Hey Nel, watch it. We want those sodas to be cold.”

“Yeah, better hand them to Jazz, we don’t want any accidents,” Rob joined in.

“Nah, that’s OK, I’ll take a bucket.” He walked up to Rob, who handed him one of them.

“You can take yours, Nel, I need to dig the tickets out.” Once Nelson had finished glaring at both jocks and grabbed the popcorn bucket, Rob led the way to the biggest theater in the Cineplex while getting the tickets from his wallet. After passing the ticket taker they proceed up to the doors which had already opened. Rob had wanted tickets for the back row, but only those at the edge were available, so he’d made do with the third row from the back.

The four teens made their way to their seats, with Rob in front, followed by Jasper, Nelson and Eric. Once they sat down, Eric distributed the sodas and Nelson positioned the popcorn between them. Eric put his left arm around the shoulders of his boyfriend and smiled happily when Nelson leaned his head in. The older teen grabbed a handful of popcorn and fed both of them in turn as the lights dimmed and the first commercials began. Rob nodded with satisfaction and focused his attention on the screen.

---

By the end of the movie, Eric grudgingly admitted Rob had made a good choice. Winter Soldier was exciting and well-made, and all of them were impressed with the special effects. Rob grinned when his brother nodded in agreement with Nelson’s enthusiastic “That was much better than I expected.”

He magnanimously refrained from saying “I told you so,” or pointing out Eric’s enjoyment might have been linked to the way Nelson cuddled up during most of the movie. As the people behind Eric filed out of the row he gestured at him to get going. He was pleased to see Eric gather up the popcorn bucket and the two empty soda cups on the way and he did the same with Jasper’s and his own stuff. Their parents had taught them to clear up after themselves, and the grateful smile of the people waiting to clean the theater as the Perry brothers dumped the trash into the waste bin, was reward enough.

All four boys went to the restroom without having to discuss it, washing their hands before and after relieving themselves; the risk of getting popcorn salt on sensitive body parts was enough to make Rob shudder at the thought. He smirked when Eric and Nelson chose separate stalls while he and Jasper were fine with using the urinal. When they left the restroom and headed out into the mall, the hand-holding couple in front, Rob decided to make his ‘brother-in-law’ squirm a bit.

“Does Nelson always do that?” he asked the redhead.

“Do what?”

“Pee in privacy.”

“No, he must have gotten shy for some reason.” Jasper’s grin showed he was on board with the joke.

“Or worried something might come up, and prevent him from getting relief.”

Hard to imagine what that might be.”

Too hard-on’s… hard on us, is the right term, perhaps.” Rob elaborated the pun.

“Two hard-ons on them, you mean,” Jasper sniggered.

“On the other hand, if they’d shared a stall, they could have gotten more than one kind of relief.”

“Ooooh, kinky!” They high-fived each other, howling with laughter.

“Jeez Eric, your parents must be desperate at times. You can’t take him anywhere, can you? I thought Jazz was bad, but…” Nelson spoke loud enough to make himself heard over the chortling of the two jocks.

“I know, he’s such an embarrassment, it’s like having a five-year-old kid brother with no filter and no limits.” Eric shook his head sadly, portraying the suffering, exasperated sibling perfectly.

“Don’t worry, babe. We’re going out on our own for our next date, and I know just the place.” Nelson’s voice was much lower, but Rob’s hearing was keen and he’d stopped laughing and moved closer.

“Already planning your third date, huh? Good for you, bro.” He tried to tussle Eric’s hair, but his clever brother ducked out of reach, increasing the pace of his walk and dragging Nelson with him.

“We’re going to the book store. Meet you at the car in one hour, Rob.”

“Go find someone else to bother, Jazz.” Nelson seemed happy to ditch his friend too.

Moments later the two jocks were by themselves. Jasper looked somewhat stunned, but Rob simply shrugged. “Wanna go to Modell’s? I need new baseball gloves.”

“Sure. Just give me a minute please. I need to check my phone for messages from Mom and Carolyn.”

“Tight apron strings, huh?”

“Shut up, Rob.”

“Why does everybody say that all the time?”

If you want them, more Rob's POV chapters will occur.

That was one for the Rob-mantics! Even though I can imagine a certain someone felt the heterosexual flirting was totally uncalled for. Rob really is an amazing brother. The story about the puppy was just adorable.

Tim,

Not sure whether I should hug you for giving us more Robgasms or condemn you for writing "(...). But Rob also liked boobs, pussy and (...)" And does Nelson know he's either a puppy or a guard dog? You know where my mind is going with that. ;-)

Thanks for this precious moment of wholesomeness in my day.

So Nelson is a puppy that Rob got for Eric... how adorable lol. As a member of Team Rob, I have to face the fact that he is straight, but at least he is a very caring brother. I think Eric would have to move to another country in order to get Rob to leave him alone. I enjoyed Rob's point of view... if only he was just a little gay, sigh...well done, Buddy... that was fun... Cheers... Gary

Loved the Rob POV Tim! He is such a great big brother....even if Eric probably wants to run the other way sometimes :P I really like the story about the puppy and that Rob noticed Eric's reaction to seeing Nelson for the first time and made it his mission to help his brother get this "puppy" that he wanted. I know this may get me banished from Team Rob, but honestly I prefer him as the straight big brother who would do anything for his little brother, but is comfortable enough with his sexuality to tease Eric about how good Nelson's ass looked in those jeans. I'm not sure Eric would have ever have come out if Rob was gay.

Loved Rob's POV....and love the good natured ribbing he's willing to dish out and take.

Fun chapter! You did well!

Rob-mantics and Rob-gasms, it's like a whole new vocabulary developing from my story, LOL.

I shall do my best to have Rob do equal opportunity flirting  while he's practising his skills, but we don't want him to break any heart of nice boys, right?

Glad you like the puppy story, everyone seems to agree.

You're welcome, John. :)

Ooops to the dog thing, I hadn't thought about that. But now you mention it, I can imagine where your mind is going... :pinch:

Try 'another continent' and Eric would probably be safe.

Glad the puppy aspect appealed to you, I'm not sure how Nelson would feel about this idea.

Even if I did make Rob 'a little bit gay' ie bicurious, it wouldn't make you happy, Gary, because you want him to find love, not just have sex, right?

At least the ladies are happy Rob is straight. :D But I think you're right. Rob being out and proud would be a very difficult thing for Eric, although Nelson would do his best to show him who he loved. :P

I wanted to show Rob is very much aware of Eric and always concerned about his welfare. This is why he was watching him on Eric's first day in high school, ready to tackle anything or anyone threatening his brother's happiness. And now you know why Rob made sure Eric joined the drama Club (by tipping their parents about Eric's wish) and why he resorted to the 'fag' tactic in the first chapter. He was getting desperately frustrated.

So far it seems to be unanimous for Rob POV being a good thing. I shall use it again when it feels right (for other options see the story forum).

I'm not surprised you liked the ribbing, but I'm grateful you found it fun.

Rob is very comfortable in his skin. It's fun to watch him in action. It was nice to just spend some time hanging out with these four.

Thanks Tim.

I agree, it is nice company, and the best part is I get to do it at least thrice: when I write it, when I edit after AC has beta'ed, and when you guys and gals review. :)

And I'm glad you find him fun to watch, even if I'm not sure Eric would agree all the time.

Rob's POV was great for an alternate perspective on the date, and his joking with Eric is gentle but fun-loving at the same time...it's nice to see how much he loves his brother, and what lengths he'll go to for him.

The way Rob flirted with the girl at the concession stand was typical Rob and done in a nice way to make her feel good and not really embarrass her, but his internal monologue was the only down side to this chapter for me--not because of what he was thinking--he is a teenage boy after all--but that it seems to rule out any chance of him being bisexual. The fact he can and does appreciate some features of guys might leave a faint glimmer of hope when he goes to college where there is more freedom from parental oversight...but unless he meets the right guy, I guess we have to give up our fantasies. While saddening, at least this isn't a story where every person who shows up is gay or suddenly realizes it after years of denial.

Great chapter, min ven!

Thanks CG, I'm glad you felt a small glimmer of hope and I wouldn't rule out Rob having a go at the other side. But as I said to Gary it would most likely be sex and nothing more. Romantically, Rob is straight as an arrow - sorry to disappoint various Team Rob members, but at least he's a good brother as you say.

It's fascinating to get a reading on Rob from inside Rob's own head. I think some of what he feels regarding attraction is real, and maybe some of it what he wants to believe is real ; ) I mean, he's made it pretty clear in past conversations that he'd be open to oral with a 'dude,' but after that happens, will he really be able to brush off the experience as emotionally meaningless..? Hmmm, maybe you'll show us that in the future. I bet Team Rob would love to see that scenario!

It's also really nice that you show big bro as the protective mother hen that he is in regards to Eric. I had a sense in last chapters that Rob's protectiveness was growing to include Nelson, but now I know why. Nel is the gift that makes Eric happy, and his younger sib's happiness is Rob's happiness too.

Very nicely done; the writing is super smooth as we wind in and out of Rob's thought processes.

Really enjoyed this trip inside Rob's head. His actions have always shown him to be a great older brother - and now the inner monologue gives more insight into his motives. I knew he approached Nelson in the first chapter as a way to get his brother talking to him - but it was interesting to find out that he realized very early on that Eric was attracted to Nelson. I'm not sure that Nelson would appreciate being compared to a puppy :P - but the big heart and good intentions are endearing :) Rob is a good, kind young man and it is refreshing to see a straight man who is so comfortable with themselves that they are able to appreciate that other men can be sexy - even if they are not for him.

Thanks AC, I got fascinated by the inside of Rob's head too as I wrote this chapter. I'm glad you felt it shed some light on the reasons for his previous actions.

Rob is the older brother I've always wanted, and I can see from comments here and in the forum, that most of you agree, which makes me :D

As to any future possibilites of Rob's sexual / romantic adventures :X:lol:

I loved the idea of Rob seeing Nel as the gift to make Eric happy.

I'm so relieved everyone was happy with the trip into Rob's head. I think he has a lot of empathy and well-developed social skills. Something which is not unusual for siblings of introverted kids, the extreme example being children with autism.

Rob is basically a happy and confident guy and he wants Eric to be happy too. Eric might grumble and be annoyed about his teasing, brash older bro, but he would be devastated if he lost Rob's attention and protection. Nelson has the potential to take on some of that role, and Rob is pleased to share it and for Eric to love someone equally to him, but he'll always be there for his brother.

Funnily enough, I've never been in the Rob Club, but this chapter really got me on his side too. Rob can be exasperating, as he was in the last part of the chapter, and here I sympathised with Eric totally, but he revealed his bro protective-love-unconditional aspect for Eric in his reminiscing about how he had been so upset with his parents for not getting Eric the puppy he wanted and how he was determined that Eric would get his puppy when he saw how he wanted Nelson (loved how you carried that comparison with Nelson). That was so touching and put Rob in number one bro bracket for me! Eric is so very lucky to have such a bro!

And Rob revealed his true sexual nature. Very balanced lad with a thoroughly happy adjustment with himself and his nature. I liked that. But it was perhaps a pity that he wasn't just a tad bit gay! He really does get the gay thing so well. Amazing for a straight-ass-jock!

And I hope you notice that I haven't been on your case lately about taking your time over developments. Lol! Nearly fell off my seat laughing at your comment regarding this on a reply to someone's review. Lol! Will have to see how the next few chapters go but threats of waiting for Ch 50! That's too much! I hope we see something before then. Lol! Otherwise there's this business of making garters out of someone's guts, though maybe we can think of other body parts. LMFAO.

LOL, I can see you wrote your own review for ch 27, before reading the other comments, but I'm glad you found my message for you about expecting ranting. Your reply here had me  too. There is only 20 more chapters to go before we get to ch 50, and I'm sure the parents won't accept a sleep-over on a school night - if at all :o But maybe Eric and Nelson can sneak away for a bit of private time when they get back from the mall. :P

I think I can manage 'a tad bit bicurious' - will that do? But mostly I'm happy this chapter put you firmly on Team Rob - or at least made you appreciate him as more than just the fun Sidekick. Rob has a lot going for him, even if he is straight when it comes to romance. ;)

I'm thrilled my readers loved this chapter including the puppy story, it tells me I conveyed the sentiments I wanted, but stayed away from sentimental.

Aha, see that's why I'm team Rob. He is a model brother, including being annoying as shit. LOL

Eric has his share admirers , only he doesn't notice? Do I know someone who has the same problem? Loved this chapter.

And yes, I'm catching up. Almost there.

Oh Eric noticed his admirers, but sadly they were all female except for Nelson, and he very stupidly hid his feelings for ages.

Model Brother but annoying as shit - thanks for that description, Adi, I'm glad you're still pleased with Rob.

I can understand Eric and Nelson wanting time alone. With the best friend and the brother acting like infant aged kids I would have been tempted to bang their heads together.
And of course book shops are always where I head for

YAY :D another book lover

lol the banging of heads and  does occur to me at times when writing Rob chapters. and now you're making me miss Irri, because she would be right there with you about Rob and Jazz.

But you may be surprised about the redhead ;)

Now I'm wondering if Rob's going to end up with someone new soon. Hopefully. I know Jas is quite settled with Carolyn so I doubt that's going to go anywhere other than besties.
