Popular Post Mikiesboy Posted Saturday at 06:44 PM Author Popular Post Posted Saturday at 06:44 PM (edited) It's cooled off a bit, and the humidity went from 90% to 64% which has helped a lot. It's still super windy so i don't need to vacuum in the bedroom though.. lol. Many dust bunnies died for the cause today. Also, i felt cool enough to make refried beans to have with our nachos. I love refried beans. Could i find an edible avocado at the store, no. So meat, cheese and bean nachos it is. And iced tea. i'm thinking about buying some hair clippers and learning to cut my own hair. i got it very short the other day, but it's a bit pricey...women's is even worse. Even for the same haircut! That's terrible. So, YouTube has some good videos about it. And mostly i wear a baseball cap when out and about, so if I mess it up, i can hide for a bit till it grows back. Oh and dogo, his bed, a hedgehog and his food/treats have arrived. SMy last haircut in Toni and Guy in London 25 years ago was £60 plus tip. Here at Toni and Guy Valencia my last cut was €30. I shudder to think what they charge in London today! 1 5

I've cut my own hair for years and I buzzed hubby and the boys for many years. I still do the husbands but the kids are on their own. (Unless the younger one decides he doesn't want long hair anymore lol). Mine is pretty long right now. I need to trim the back but it's at an awkward length for me to do it myself. So it'll keep growing until I decide to chop it all off. Which I've done before. Our humidity ticked up today. I was inside all day "working". (Yeah, got some writing done and managed 9400 steps pacing while listening to an audiobook). Its pizza for us for dinner as I did not take anything out of the freezer. Enjoy the rest of your weekend y'all! 8
Popular Post Kitt Posted Saturday at 09:20 PM Popular Post Posted Saturday at 09:20 PM I can recommend the Whal brand clippers. They have 2 sizes of battery powered, and at least 2 sizes of plug ins. All are durable and do nice clips provided you keep them sharp and don't try and use the tiny ones for a big job. Yes, I know someone who tried to use the tiny AA battery size meant for little jobs like cleaning up whiskers and ears to attempt a full body clip on a draft ( read HUGE) horse. 3 sets of batteries later they quit working, and the dingbat tried to return them for a refund because " they should have lasted more than one day". 1 6 1 1

I bought a heavy duty Whal steel hair clipper over 20 years ago, and still use them today. I doubt they make them as good now as they did then, but they have probably saved me thousands, over the many years. This was a plug in (I hate constantly replacing batteries in anything)! I have had to replace many trimmers over the years, so no such luck with them ☹️ Edited yesterday at 02:44 AM by Flip-Flop 5 2
Popular Post Mikiesboy Posted 17 hours ago Author Popular Post Posted 17 hours ago Good morning, children! The house smells like butter, apples and cinnamon... someone said i should bake two pans of apple brownies, so since the dog had us up at 8am... i've done just that. Oh, it smells so good. One pan will join some date squares in the freezer. Michael and i will devour the rest. LOL.. So i don't have much to do today. I made breakfast, baked, trimmed the dog's paw pads... he wasn't a fan but maybe now he'll be a bit cooler and have more traction. He's heading toward 14 years of age and has a bit of trouble with his back legs.. can't jump so well. Except when he wants to get on the bed. LOL. Anyway, i'm going to just do a lot of nothing.. maybe look at some writing and do a bit of knitting. See you all later. Have a good day!! 7

Ive added apples to my shopping list. I will be baking either today or tomorrow. There's just too much stuff to do around this house. That's what happens when nobody else wants to step up and help out their 91 year old mother. Some of these issues have been issues for years. Enjoy your apple brownies tim! Have a good day everyone! 7

That is two big apples or 3 medium... i've been using Red Prince, but any good cooking or tasty apple will do. I cut it up into smallish pieces and grate the other. That's me, of course you can put them in how you like them. I've made it with nuts per the recipe but also put in raisins instead. It's good. Do not over bake. My only changes are to use half whole wheat flour and half white, and i use Splenda brown sugar. Enjoy. Edited 10 hours ago by Mikiesboy 3

I bookmarked this and I'm going to try it with the raisins because I'm not a fan of walnuts. Thanks tim! 1 2

I used pecans myself.. i like those better.. i'd recommend toasting them first if you use nuts. Soak the raisons first as well. Hope you like it. 3

kbois Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 23 minutes ago, Brayon said: What do you usually soak them in? Hello everyone. Happy Sunday. Raisins can be soaked in a variety of liquids. Warm water, fruit juice, one of my friends soaked them in coffee(which I thought was weird, but to each their own), most types of alcohol, although rum is used most often. You only need to soak them for 15-30 minutes for most recipes but if you use alcohol it should be overnight. Rum raisins are great for fruitcakes. 1 2
