Yes---Dallen will need to learn what is real and what is untrue by himself through maybe trial and error. I hope his mental connection will give him insight faster. I agree 💯 percent! Some authors can pack a lot into shorter chapters, but I like the attention to detail and the emotions injected into the story. Makes it more fulfilling.

I have to wonder what the timeframe for this story is, while 'Karen' the punching board is on the 'pill...supposedly so'...I to shudder to think that the 'excitement' of banging her raw, the thrill of playing 'Mexican Roulette" just may be more than risky business...quite frankly is very poor advice...As attuned to the rhythms of nature and the world, and wise to the mechanics of sex, I would have expected better from Mateo and his contemporaries...
