The deer are everywhere right now, all adrift, nervous and confused. It will get better for them when the snow comes. They'll know where to go. Kind of feel like that myself sometimes. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Anyway.. lovely poem.. could see it all .. and felt a chill in the air; a taste of what's to come..

Love the idea of a study hall poetry collection. Thanks for looking over this one. I liked it, too.

I love the opening two lines with the mixing of the senses. It had the effect of making me stop and assess, or trying to imagine your word picture instead of just gliding over the words with barely a hesitation. Three different senses all employed to the same end ... Wow!

I fell in love with that first line walking home one night, and had to scribble it down. But Autumn has its own scent, an earthy, rich smell that defies categorization until you include other senses in its description. It is perhaps a distillation of anticipation...thank you for your patience with my untimely response...

I love the way you started, with the change in the autumn's scent...then making it visually rich with the 'greying field' or 'the rising gloom beyond the mountain'...it was a wonderful read

You were so nice to take time to comment on these older poems. Autumn is all about change in temperature, air, light, rain...so much change. Our bodies notice it, too. Thanks for reading!
