Occasional Poetry - 52. Sorrows

Smooth and heartbreaking. I don't think I can say much more, other than thank you for posting these and all of your wonderful verse.

So much sadness here, Parker. I was glad I was able to write something happy for a change, but these ones are necessary to get out as well. I sensed a bitterness in the last one that seemed more the voice of grief than logic. They still make good dads and friends, but I agree, there are differences... I hope your pain eases... Gary xo

Thank you, AC, for Your kind comments. Three memorials, three lives gone, three melancholy Cinquains. It's good to write it out to the world, perhaps.

Yes, you're right, Gary, there is grief rather than logic there. After all these years, I still miss my dad, though, and my friend is now gone, too. These three sorrows have accumulated this summer and fall. And poetry surely helps ease the hurt.

Thank you, Val, for your support, kindness, and hugs. The last was the most recently written, done after a memorial quite recently. So many memories wrapped up in such events, and the melancholy sweeps in like a snow squall. But poetry and community help so much.

Lovely all three. But the best for me, was number three. I think it was the very simple nature of the words chosen. Beautiful my friend.

Number three is also the one that spoke most clearly to me. It flowed from brain to paper almost of its own volition; number one took many more versions and scratch outs to come to a conclusion I liked. Perhaps that explains the simplicity you noticed. That poem is also my favorite of the set. Many thanks for reading these, Tim, and for your kind support.

And inside the house? Here we find all the trappings of grief, but it's the introspection near the end that counts.
