timmy's poetry - 13. Mother's Day

It’s Mother’s Day and I can’t send you roses
I can’t take you to dinner or hold your hand
I haven’t heard your voice for eighteen years
but your words are always with me

Sometimes when I’m lucky you’re in my dreams
When I need you or things are hard
Makes me sad you never met my husband
Or can’t see that my life ain’t so bad

I miss you Mum, you gave me two great gifts
there was a cost but I used them best I could
I tried to follow what you taught me
I hope you’d be proud of the man I am

I got a little choked up, too. Fifteen is too young for any child to lose a parent, especially one that is so loved. I'm sure there are many memory-triggers that you experience regarding her, and undoubtedly Mother's Day is one of the hardest to deal with. I'm sorry, tim. Definitely, she's proud of the man you've become. xo

people say you should be over it .. i guess so.. but most of them still have their mother. i wonder sometimes how my life would have been different if she had lived.. it is what it is . thanks Mac xo
