timmy's poetry - 16. Unwary

times they are a-changing

Forever seems so long

Is what I've done right?

Is it the devil you know?

I love you, but is that enough?

All around me is advice

People who waffle and wait

What are we waiting for?

I can be tomorrow, on that train

You set me adrift alone

With maybe a second thought

People have hurt me before

Alone always, I'll climb back up

'Cause suicide ain't painless

Love steals and bankrupts the unwary

But I can't live like you do

Silence is crueler than the slap

Sweet Tim,
I'm so happy you use your words to free your voice. Just like you, your words have purpose.
I totally understand that feeling of ALONE. You my sweet man are never alone!

The hurt rings out like many harsh, discordant bells; you cry for certainty in a chaotic place in this poem. Your pain makes me so unhappy, brother.

Thank you Parker, there isn't a lot of certainty in the world but sometimes we find a small oasis if we're lucky.. hugs Parker xoxo

Had to think about my reply, tim... powerful and upsetting, but that's where I'm at... great writing and I hear both pain and want in the message...

What are we waiting for?

I can be tomorrow, on that train

Yes, you/we all could do that... Just speaking for me... I've learned to be careful what I wish for, because in my experience, the grass is never greener... Hope you're okay... Gary xo

I'm okay Gary and I'm not going anywhere. I don't always write about me, often i read things, or hear them and i internalize them, put myself in that place to discover the feelings there. tim xox

don't be sorry. I do feel for you - so far away that I cannot even offer support or my shoulder - your hurt is one my thoughts cannot even imagine. Feelings diminish vast distances to nothing, when put into your words - the Atlantic wanes into a small stream that might be crossed in one leap.

Your last sentence has left me reeling. I do know how much silence can hurt us - silence which drives our loneliness home, which leaves us with only ourselves - nothing between me and the void that life is - can be - I wish I had your way with words, dear friend...

@mayday.. do you not see it?  because i did.. clear as day ... i took your words... made only a few changes:

so far away that I cannot offer support or shoulder

your hurt is one my thoughts cannot imagine.

Feelings diminish vast distances to nothing,

the Atlantic wanes into a small stream

that might be crossed in one leap.

The final sentence has left me reeling.

I know how much silence can hurt us

it drives our loneliness home,

and leaves us with only ourselves

nothing between me and the void that life is - can be

Your words always strike deeply.

The line about silence being more cruel than the slap. WOW. It was always what we feared most growing up.  Mom had a wicked backhand, and she could scream at you.  But Dad.  He'd just get quiet.

Many thanks for sharing this with us.

I happen to think it must take great courage to do so.

Quite powerful and a bit unsettling - once again you have taken a few words and made them into something real

I've learned that silence is a terrible punishment.  When that loving voice is withheld it is worse than any physical pain. If they hit you, at least you know that they acknowlege your there.

thanks molly xo
