Newest Newsletter Game: Pick Two

There's a new game running for the newsletter! Today we're going to get the ball rolling, and next week I'll announce the fun twist of the game. This will involve writing, so if you don't want to play, don't add the game information to your reply (feel free to talk/discuss otherwise). Don't worry, though, it's not a long or hard challenge.

 

Take Two

 

Game: Choose two nouns at random. Pull out a dictionary (if you own one!) or randomly search for nouns online. Take the first two you pick/see/get results for and add them to your post here. What are you going to do with them? Well... the answer for that comes with next week's newsletter.

 

Game details: Game announcement 4/30/17 & 5/7/17. Game will run through 6/3/17 with newsletter feature on 6/4/17.

Okay! Newsletter has gone out and the details have been announced! Here's what you're in for, my lovely twisted torture subjects... I mean, fellow authors and lovely site members. Take those two nouns you picked out and forget them! You're not using your nouns, you're using the nouns of the person who posted in the game just before you did! So that means BHopper2 is using Dolores' words of Dust and Gamma-Ray, she's using Ron's words of Tugboat and Store... and so on. I'll be using BHopper2's words of 'Champion and Hardhat'. Muahahahaha... hopefully they picked good words for you to use!

 

What are the nouns for?

You get to plug your nouns (in any order) into the following sentences:

[Name] opened the front door and found a (noun). [Name] stared, shocked, but then [Name] remembered I/he/she/they had a (noun) and….

 

What do I do then?

Write a 300-500 word scene, in any POV, tense, style, genre, etc... you want. They don't have to be a complete story, but they shouldn't be part of an existing storyline. Your flash piece should be finished by June 3rd, but please post-date (yay! that works again!) your chapter for June 4th. PM me with a link to your post, and I'll feature your flash fiction in June 4th's newsletter as well as a site announcement! That's it, simple, easy... fun!
