    Prompts Featuring Creatures

    By Valkyrie

In honor of our Anthology theme, I thought it would be fun to do some warm-up exercises. Maybe these will even turn into a complete Anthology story.  So let's go creature hunting!    PT Prompt #263 First line: "It's behind me, isn't it." PT Prompt#264 You buy a new pet and surprise your partner with it, only to find out they are deathly afraid of it.  What is it and how do you deal with the aftermath?    Please include the prompt number either in your sto

Weekly Wrap Up!

This week was a busy week. Don't forget that the 15th at 2pm EST is the last chance to get your entries in for the Secret Santa Short Story Contest. Unfortunately, if they're not in by then, I can't include them in the voting that will start on the 16th. Good luck to all the entrants.   On Monday, Cia announced the choices for the December CSR. This month is all about Christmas stories!   On Wednesday we had this month's Ask An Author feature. To see what the authors were asked, and what the

Christmas Special One Man's Worth

First In case you guys didn't read Chapter 9, which I posted yesterday on regular schedule, here's a link   Now, here's One Man's Worth Link and a little background:   This story is set 2 weeks after Chapter 12, so there are a few spoilers.   The inspiration for this Christmas Special came from two sources: One Man's Worth is the title of X-Men TAS Cartoon and Comic Book about the death of Professor Xavier causing a horrible future to be fixed by "Bishop", a mutant time traveler. The secon

The New Book, Part 16

Once again things didn’t turn out as planned. I wanted Chapter 16 to deal with the marriage of two characters but that was thwarted by bureaucratic rigamarole. Then, where to go from there?   So, my original plan was to add a new character to the current core group in Chapter 17. Well, the way it worked out was that the protagonist from Chapter 1 is the addition. This character brings a whole new set of problems—what would a story be without problems—and as it worked out, he fit perfectly into

Cbdt Chapter 9

https://www.gayauthors.org/story/w-l/0sand1scbdt/10   Did you think I forgot about Kevin or his crush on Hunter? If I mentioned it in Chapter 3, I will not forget it even in Chapter 9 (Hmm...3x3 = 9, is that a math reference, a religious reference to "3" by WL, or just a coincidence )   It's been one sided love of course, but what great love isn't one sided to begin with.   Before we get to love, let's talk about loss; Hunter has lost a major battle against his foes and the walls are sta

My 20's Megamix Playlist

So, as I say goodbye to this decade and say hello to a new one, I thought it'd be cool to take some time and reflect on the tunes that I loved in my 20's. Here we go:   My 20's in Music   1.) The New Book, Part 15

Finished Chapter 15 last night. Good thing I have a great selection of music to listen to because on Tuesday and Wednesday this chapter was difficult to write. Two suicide episodes were just a bit tragic and tough to put down. Then, there was the end to write, which ultimately turned into a surprise, happy event. Nothing like death and sex to get things bubbly.   Did a bit of Excel boo-boos on reporting the results of the last chapter. The total word count now equals 97,354 and the projected 2

Brandon Bitner

For me, story research on the Internet often invokes whisperings and promptings from those in spirit. This sweet soul led me to his story. His final wish was that his story be told so that others could avoid his fate by stopping the cruel torment of bullies.   I encourage you to explore the world of Brandon Bitner, a beautiful child who fled from this world to escape his tormentors. Share his story if you are so inclined. He will love that you would do this for him and his memory.   http://w

The New Book, Part 14

Okay!   Need a new character?   Well, create one. Give him a trade, a living situation, a tragic event, rejection, and finally, the chance for love.   Chapter 14 came in at almost 7,000 words, on track to exceed 100,000 words in 20 chapters. But, maybe, I’ll just stop when I hit 100,000.   At this point, there is only one, maybe, two characters that are coming to the commune. Definitely one. Haven’t decided on the other.   Chapter 15 will deal with suicide and possibly a wedding (or, m

Hope everyone has had a great weekend so far! Just a reminder that the Secret Santa Christmas Story Contest deadline is on the 15th. Let's get right into this week's wrap up! This is going to be quick, since I'm watching a 2 year old and worried he's going to wake up, lol.   On Monday, we had the discussion day for Lilansui's story "A Rescued Life".   Wednesday we announced our newest Promising Author, Headstall. If you haven't already done so, go congratulate him!   Friday, we had two ne

The New Book, Parts 11, 12, And 13

As has oft' been said, “The best laid plans of mice and men . . .”   Well, I had plans for Chapters 11, 12, and 13, but things went awry. As often happens with my writing, the characters generally lead the story. So, in this case, Chapters 11, 12, and 13 cover the same characters over a four day period and, since they totaled over 20,000 words, there was only one thing to do, break it into three pieces.   As I had it planned two protagonists meet on the first day at a university when they we

Cbdt Chapter 8: Wtf Did Wl Do?

I am not a LGBT crusader or activist, but I am a conscientious man. What is stopping Christian Fundamentalists in Africa from Aligning with radical groups in the US? Writing Prompts #464 & #465 & Poetry #16

Finally, the end of the week and time for a couple of new prompts to inspire you. I hope everyone got in their Anthology entries, as the deadline was yesterday and it is now closed to new entries. If you had thought about doing an anthology, but wasn't able to, maybe you have a holiday themed story for the Secret Santa Christmas Contest. The deadline for that is December 15th. There are some great prizes for the top three stories, just make sure to read the rules thoroughly. Now, let's see what

Welcome To December

Just wanted people to know I am alive. My computer died and while saving to get another have had a few issues.   While I did do a story for the anthology I just have no way to type it up and get it done. This will be the first anthology since I joined that I haven't done. When I get my computer I will do it anyway.   For those who haven't gotten a Christmas card, I'm sorry. Most of my addresses were saved on my computer and when it died so did my list. I am hoping to get things together but

C S R Discussion Day: A Rescued Life By Lilansui

Did you have a chance to read Lilansui's A Rescued Life for our November CSR Featured story? We had a lot of time, so I hope readers enjoyed the 50k tale. If not, well maybe this interview and the reader comments below will help motivate you to check it out. Make sure you leave your comments and review for Lilansui, who promises to pop in throughout the day/night as possible.   Single people often have more time to write. Are you single? Yes, I’m single. . It is a source of stress sometimes, b

The New Book, Part 10

Chapter 10 is in the bag with 6,902 words. Two days, 6,902 words, just a bit too much. I watched an interview quite a while ago of an author who only wrote no more than 1,500 words a day. I’m definitely exceeding that rule, but as I’ve said before, this is a good story with a good set of characters who work well together, sometimes. Chapter 10 is one of those heartwarming stories. This book has a lot of those.   Coming up, Chapter 11 will concern a young girl who leaves her boyfriend and goes

I hope everyone has had a great weekend, and for those who celebrated, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
