    Vacation Time!

    By Valkyrie

I just spent two wonderful weeks in the south of England, seeing everything from the Cerne Giant (Google it if you're not familiar...  )  to Stonehenge at sunset.  I could write an entire story about all the sights and experiences from the trip, but at the moment, will have to settle with two prompts based of actual things I experienced during my adventures.  PT Prompt #217 After travelling for over 24 hours with pretty much no sleep and lots of Dramamine (motion sickness med that make

Communication Breakdown and Computer Central

It's been an intresting few days lately, one in which I spent a lot of time working with not one, but two computers, and little to no time writing and reading. I think it's a good thing because it gave me some time to exercise the brain (and to play with electrical things hehehe). I have my laptop which I'm going to mainly use to write and use when i'm away from home, and I have my desktop/server which syncs with the laptop so I can work at home and be able to work abroad . On top of that, I als

Okay, I went along with it this time

Gabe just posted a similar blog, so I thought I'd do the same. I thought others might want to know a little more about me.   1. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? Yes I was. I was named after two uncles. Both of them died young.   2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED? I

Not even pretending this is important

The best thing about this blog is that I can post random crap like this and not care that it is a waste of time, space, and energy. Ah well. I'm told my generation is going to hell, since we're so utterly self-absorbed and the only thing we collectively care about is hooking up and chatting. I could respond to that, disagreeing a bit, but mostly pointing out that the system that has educated my generation has emphasized individual self-esteem and validation over actually information, so perhaps

Shopping List

So there is a post in the forums asking for people to describe the perfect guy. Thats a bit of a stumbling point. What is a perfect guy? Does one even exist? If he does, and we met would I just get so fed up with his perfection that he would seem, to me, no longer perfect?   The stigmata of perfection aside, what am I looking for in my ideal guy?   Good looks are a plus, the specifics? well I'm not that picky, even if I have a slight preference for darker hair, also he shouldn't overly hairy

Wisconsin Gay Couples Could Face Jail For Marrying In California

Wisconsin Gay Couples Could Face Jail For Marrying In California by 365Gay.com News Center Staff   LINK   (Madison, Wisconsin) Same-sex couples from Wisconsin who go to California to marry could find themselves facing criminal charges when they return home.   A little known Wisconsin law makes it a criminal offense to enter into a marriage outside the state if that marriage were illegal in Wisconsin.   While the law was passed decades ago to prevent underage couples from crossing state

Information about BMAD and other stories

Hi everyone,   I was going to respond to Steph's comment in the last blog, but I was planning to post a quick blog about BMAD anyway, so I decided to just do it in this entry:   LOL, thanks, Steph   BMAD definitely has some aspects that are taken from my real life. For example it takes place in Houston and with the exception of Bender's and Frank's all the other clubs, restaurants, parks, etc. that I mention are actual places in Houston that my friends and I periodically frequent. (It

McDonald's: I'm REALLY Lovin' It

American Family Association calls for boycott of McDonald's by Roger Sinasohn Jul 6th 2008 9:01AM       I've heard of a lot of reasons why people avoid "Old McDonald's", as the famous fast food chain is known around our house -- the general unhealthiness of the food, the destruction of the rainforests, their marketing through school notices, and so on -- but the American Family Association has come up with a new one.   The AFA is calling for a boycott of the golden arches because the comp

Modern Classics- the Doors

A long time ago on a beach far away, Jim Morrison and Ray Mansarek met. What followed was one of those spontaneous reactions that is only possible when the chemistry and times are right. The Doors are Jim Morrison(singer), Ray Mansarek(keyboards), Robbie Kreiger(guitar) and John Densmore(drums).     The Doors emerged from the LA club scene with their breakout album the Doors in 1967. Their debut album had two number ones, was the #2 album of the year and is listed on everyones list of Class

Classic Rock Profiles

A few notes about the profiles:   I will take each band and present its original albums in chronological order. I will list the year of the album release and show its most common album cover.   Each album will link to Google Music to show a list of tracks on the album and independent reviews.   Where possible, I will use U-tube or other video provider to show classic tracks from the albums.   Hot links to U-tube or Google Music appear in red. I suggest opening them in a new tab in Firefo

A recount of recent events

I stayed up till 5am chatting with my best friend (Scott) last night/today. I was really nice, we hadn't had a chance to hang out just the two of us and really talk for several weeks.   FF ('former friend' from previous entires) seems to be interested in reconciling. Things have been warm and pleasant between us of late. Nevertheless, while I'll continue to be nice to him, and even welcome his presence among our mutual friends and shared activities, I don't think I have any interest in re

July Vacation Trip

This has been one exciting trip so far. It actually started several days ago. I went to call my brother to let him know I would be coming and when. I discovered that somehow I had lost his number off my cell phone. I couldn't find my younger sisters either. I had noticed several days ago, that I couldn't make or receive calls. I wound up pulling the battery and sim card to get it working again. So emailed a cousin of mine asking her to contact my sister and let her know and to get a hold of my b

Dance Dance Dance!

Mike dances???   Holy shit...   Someone is breaking my shell and I don't know who it is but I'm angry...   The shell I've worked 20 LONG AND HARD years to form. The shell that no man or woman could ever break. The shell that kept me in my comfort zone no matter how much deep down inside I wanted to branch out. The shell that held me back all these years from the things I enjoy, for the things I keep hidden for the things that make me, well me. and just like that BROKEN!   I go to work

Camping and Zoloft

I had a great time at the creek last weekend. Paul invited me, and it was a f**king blast. I got to meet his boyfriend, Levi, for the first time really. I'd seen him around before but never really spoken to him, which is a total shame because the boy is absolutely one of the nicest people ever.   He talked me into shotgunning a beer with him after I'd already had SEVERAL, lol. Then he didn't complain at all when he had to help me to my tent because I was drunk enough for the sand to be m

Is Pokey Dead?

Yesterday when I was driving up US-550 toward Durango, CO, I saw what looked like a small rottweiler puppy lying beside the highway. There isn't a breakdown lane in that stretch so the little doggy was lying in a narrow, a tire's width, space between the pavement and the weedy shoulder. I imagined Mom moving the kids the previous night and little Pokey trying to keep up before the next car came careening down the highway. It was probably too dark and the driver was probably distracted by the mot

Waxing Hypotheticals

Let's say you have this person you consider a friend, even though the last time you communicated with them, it didn't end up so well. In fact let's just say they never replied back.   Now you notice another person warming up to this person you consider a friend, offering unsolicited, but by all means welcome, advice. Do you warn the friend off? Do you tell them about the odd ways of this new person? Do you tell friend that all he has to do is disagree with the new person once and the new perso

Grease monkey or cat?

Have you ever had an animal under the hood of your car? Had someone asked me that yesterday, I would have said no. However, if I said no to that question now, I would be lying. I left my house around 2 and went to Missouri. Before I left, I noticed a kitten crawling underneath my car. I thought nothing of it. I put my key into the ignition, turned it over, and let the engine roar. Once I arrived at my destination, I heard a distinct meow, one I had heard before. So, I open the hood, and nested o

Before I dash off to work

Mostly I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank the admins for all the work they put into this website. I've been a member for a couple years now, mostly lurking, but it has been a joy to watch the site expand and improve over time.   As to the current unpleasantness, I won't say that I am taking the Admins side, because they have not asked anyone to do so. Besides, the fact that I have met four out of the five admins, and liked them, prejudices me to look at their words with a little le

30 past prime

I'm an introverted Kinda guy. I don't mean to be, just kind of turned out that way. thats not the reason for this little rant however. Sometimes it feels like the past decade has been wasted. Wasted waiting, or merely floating through life with no particular aim. I guess that is the bane of the tail edge of Generation X, a complete lack of motivation.   As I have stated in earlier blogs I'm tired of feeling ... lost in the world. I want something more then the prospects of another dead end jo

Deer Time

Last night as I was driving here (Clarksville, AR) I saw a deer standing in the grass beside the interstate. It was not looking into the oncoming headlights, but away from them. I thought that was rather clever for the stupid, hairy, suicidal beastie.   They run out in front of cars and trucks. The question isn't "Why did the chicken cross the road?" It is "Why did the deer cross the road?" There's grass on their side. They don't need to go to the other side to get food.   And, why is it peo

Thoughts of mortality

Sorry in advance for anyone creeped out by this entry.   Lately I've been thinking a lot about dying. Not wanting to die, but just dying in general. I guess more to the point, it's been consuming all of my thoughts and even my dreams at night. I just get the feeling that death might be right around the corner for me, and I can't shake it. Last night I woke up in a cold sweat from a dream that I was being murdered, and a couple of nights before, I actually woke up kneeling at my bedside, and I
