No rain or storms here in the UK. Just lovely warm weather, around 18c.

Tornado warning passed uneventfully(yes rotation was recorded by radar and the cell phones allerted sending us to the basement). Lots of lights, noise and rain but no damage, unless you count the pawshaped bruise on my thigh when the dog landed there.

Here in Valencia it’s a v comfortable 20°+.  Preparing myself for 2024 tax claim on my retirement payments.   Hard to face 30-35°% tax rate ripping through every penny Ive ever saved but that is life here.  You win the euro millions lottery in uk, no tax.  With same numbers here 20°%+ tax.   Still, we have the sunshine free, at least.

The first time I read this, my sleep addled brain saw 18 as 81 and I was like "Since when does the UK use Fahrenheit "?

(I'm useless without coffee).

It was always Fahrenheit until we were joining EEC, now the EU. I can still remember learning the conversions with plus and minus 32 being involved.  At least one I can remember 28°C =82° F. (Ok 82.4 if we are fussy!).

Thanks @Gary L, for reminding me of the conversion formula. I had to look it up and write it down, so I can find out  what the rest of the world is feeling. Without using this forgotten formula, I had little or no idea of  how to relate to Celsius readings. It's hard if not impossible for us old Fahrenheit users to accurately convert and understand temperatures degrees without using it.

I hit the easy button and use the unit converter on my android phone. It looks like a ruler. It does 9 different types of calculations- mass, volume, temperature, distance, etc.  Not sure if there's an equivalent on iPhone.

I just found that in the calculator!  Neat!

Well at the moment we're having a shitty holiday. I've only developed a throat infection and are struggling to swallow anything and no energy  either.

Poor you.   It is awful to be ill on holiday when you just want to be tucked up in your own bed.  Really feel for you xxx

Well that stinks. Almost sounds like you've got strep throat. Take care of yourself.

Glad you're doing better @chris191070.

I've got a question for those of you who don't live in the US. I'm curious. During a bout of insomnia last night after my dog woke me up at 2:11am to go out, my brain started spinning.... which you all know it can think weird things in that state.

I got to wondering. I see a lot of reels and videos online that deal with generations and the differences between them. It seems like here in the US, there's a huge divide amongst the generations.

Being the humans that we are, we have to label everything... Boomers, GenX, Millenials, Gen Z, and now Gen Alpha. Each one seems to have pretty decisive opinions about the others, except for GenX... we don't give a damn. (Yes, I'm a card-carrying member)

What I'd like to know is; if, in the rest of the world, do you see an emphasis on the generational gap and do you label it?

And now you know why I couldn't sleep last night.

Have a great weekend!

You forgot xennials too.  Too young for Gen X and too old for Millenials.  But I don't see the point aside from maybe marketing?
