Its those plastic dome-cover thingys that you put over a plate or bowl so food doesn't splatter in the microwave. We have a microwave that's mounted above the stove so keeping it stored inside the microwave makes sense (at least to me)

I have these and find them to be very handy for splatter catching.

Had no idea those even existed.  I usually cover plates with waxed paper and bowls with another plate... i don't use plastic in the microwave. I have some corningware things that have glass lids that i use too.
very interesting.  i think, if i had such a thing, that i would leave in the microwave, cuz what else is it used for? It will just take up space on the counter.

I have them and they’re exceptionally handy for catching the splatter.

We don't use the microwave an awful lot.  I think i use the kitchen timer in it more that the machine itself.  I'm not sure why. Maybe because i've never used it to cook things and we don't have many leftovers (though i wish we did sometimes) to reheat them.  When we have nachos i do put them in there to melt the cheese, but it doesn't make a mess.

I think they are a good idea if you use your micro a lot.  :)

We primarily use the microwave to heat stuff up. If you use it to melt butter those covers sure do come in handy!

Also... who's actually going to 'fess up to blowing up an egg in the microwave? 🙋‍♀️

I don't do a lot of leftovers either, but if I do, I usually try to use the oven or stove top if I can.  Microwave if I'm in a hurry and it's not too fancy.

I'm not fond of the microwave for most cooking. While it heats things super fast, I think they cool just as fast. I do prefer it for corn on the cob and baking potatoes ans sweet potatoes. Half the time and does not heat up the kitchen in the summer.

i love my air fryer cuz all it is really a little oven, but i use to for sweet potato fries, the most amazing chicken thighs... it makes frozen battered fish taste like deep-fried, and it doesn't give off much heat. So between the air fryer and the instant pot, not much heat during the summer.

i probably didn't do them right, but i did not like baked potatoes from the microwave. It's a moot point now because i cannot eat baked potatoes really. I can eat soaked and then boiled potatoes but just a small serving.

All this food talk reminds me i need to make another plum and peach crisp. I love the Italian prune plums we can get in late august and sept ... image.png.d89e2876a7674f206f9ef29d126ead1f.png They are purple outside and green in the centre and when you cook them, they turn this wonderful shade of fuchsia.  And they taste amazing cooked and raw.  And it's bread time, too.  So a couple of things to do tomorrow.  :)

They also said it was OK to use foil in the microwave? I've always thought that was a big no, no!  😕

Can’t remember how long ago it was, but one time at work a staff member told a patient to use the staff lunch room microwave to heat her lunch.  Hubby had apparently packed her lunch, so she wasn’t aware it was wrapped in foil (weird, I know). Anyhow, in the  microwave it went, and yes, there were flames. Luckily a quick shut off and unplugging put an end to the flames.

Something tells me tin foil is still not microwaveable…

It's Monday. Sort of a busy day for me. Danny and i slept in until 9:45 am... argh.  So, managed to crawl outta bed. Made breakfast ... then had to make bread since that didn't get done the other day, and we used the last slice and crust this morning. Danny and/or Michael are crust eaters, i'm much too delicate to eat such things. :)  LOL.  So two nice loaves are cooling now. Then i made dinner…chicken curry. We eat that A LOT... cuz we like it and it uses things up. I now have a bit of time before final dinner prep.

Sooo, i am here to let you know it is the summer equinox today or was for us here in the Northern Hemisphere, at 2:19pm ET. We had a couple of hours of rain as well, which was welcome. It's warmish today, about 75f.

So, i hope you all have a super-duper Monday!!!

Hmmmm, a curry dinner is now only a 7.5 hour drive away 🚘. With fresh bread too! 🤤

Ain't you got no New England boiled dinner or homemade baked beans and brown bread leftovers from the weekend for dinner, Sis?  You ain't in Florida anymore. With winter fast approaching, that stove and oven needs to be humming all weekend long. LOL

P.S. Who was supposed to be watching @weinerdog?  I know it wasn't me.

I'm back to the drawing board for my job search. The place I was going to work at rescinded the job offer the day before I was supposed to start. A$$holes.

That really stinks, but you've probably avoided a nightmare work environment if that's any indication of how they operate.

Do we need to rally the Korner Krew  lol?
