Classic Author Excerpt: The Union of Darkness and Light by Lugh

Well, it's Wednesday. Did you check out this month's Classic Author feature on Monday, or download your copy of the graphic for your signature? It's definitely an unusual little tale and has an ending I don't think you'll expect. Well, if you read Lugh's stories, you probably already know that the story won't go like you think it will and the ending is never far from assured. But let's talk about another part of the story, because there's a hint in the beginning that just captures the attention

Happy 20th Anniversary Comicality!

Instead of the usual Tuesday Tech Blog this week, I'm taking the day to wish my first online author friend a very very happy 20th Anniversary of him posting his stories for us all to enjoy!      On June 19, 1998, 20 years ago today, Comicality posted his first chapter of New Kid In School on Nifty.  https://www.nifty.org/nifty/gay/highschool/new-kid-in-school/ (If you look at chapter 1-2, you'll see the date stamp)   Comicality hooked me right away on his stori

Eragon

I mentioned the Eragon books a few weeks ago.  They did make a movie out of the book.  I liked the movie enough, but it has some weaknesses.  The director's leather fetish for the young male actors was not one of them.   This is worth seeing if you enjoy fantasy, dragons etc.  The effects were done well and Jeremy Irons always adds some gravitas to what he shows up in. And the bad guy is played by John Malcovitch.  Check it out.

June Classic Author Feature: The Union of Darkness and Light by Lugh

June is transition month... hot to cold, cold to hot, the spring equinox. The month of weddings for many; gay pride month. The end of the school year and the start of summer vacation. And this month, June is also the month we're featuring a different kind of transition, and union, with Lugh's short story, The Union of Darkness and Light. An interesting tale spanning years in the lives of the characters, we see the tale from multiple POV and learn that all we think is good and light and bad and d

The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

This is a 7 book series.  It is also a complete classic, though most people are only familiar with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  (Book 1 in published order) There has been a long debate amongst fans of what order you are supposed to read the books.  This single volume version puts the story in chronological order, instead of published order.  It makes a lot more sense this way. The books Chronologically: The Magician's Nephew The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

I Wrote A Book!

I mentioned in my last blog post (which was back in December, omg!) that I have a couple of books being published this year! The first one came out on Monday!! It's called Inside Darkness and it's about a humanitarian aid worker struggling with PTSD and an Asian American journalist who encounters systemic racism. It's dark and gritty and angsty; the sex is fast but the emotions are slow burn (I stole that last part from a reviewer, hehe).    It's hard to believe that I am officially a

God Of War for PS4

This is one of the reasons I bought a PS4.  The game is definitely outstanding.  Looks great, sounds great.  Play is interesting.  I'd be having more fun with it, but as an Xbox guy, I have to say the controller sucks for the Playstation and its horrible layout is a hindrance to people used to a good controller.  Walking around fine.  Doing battle just sucks because I have 12 years of muscle memory for the xbox controller layout.   Anyway, the game is great.  Check it out, if you haven

Tomorrow, Everything Changes

So, tomorrow is officially moving day. The U-Haul is parked in the driveway waiting to be loaded. Everything in the house, with the exception of my room, is packed in boxes. For some reason, I can't bring myself to pack my room. We're moving from the Dallas area to a small East Texas town called Rusk. It's about 3 hours away. I know absolutely nobody down there, with the exception of my 2 cousins and their wives. They are all very umm, let me try to explain. My cousin Justin, the younger of the

Tech Tuesday: Clubs

I thought I would swing around to Clubs again for this Tech Tuesday.  Clubs are semi-private groups here on Gay Authors.  We have a few different clubs available currently, and you can find them under the Club Link on the main red menu.   I strongly encourage our authors to join the Writer's Circle.  There are a lot of ongoing discussions in there, and our friend @BHopper2 has been nice enough to start his own ongoing topic discussions each Tuesday which have brought forth some g

On Friendship and Diversity

I suspect some readers may consider the cast I surrounded CJ—the protagonist in my ongoing series—unrealistic. The diverse group of supporting characters could be construed as wishful thinking at a time our country seems divided along so many lines. I beg to differ.   IT IS NOT A FANTASY.   A few weeks ago, I traveled to New York to celebrate my 60th birthday; I was reminded how lucky I’ve been with the people I’ve surrounded myself with. A caring, loving group of humans, the

I Am Number Four

So I mentioned I am Number Four series of books by Pittacus Lore last Friday in my book blog.  They did manage to make one movie of the series.  It was a decent adventure with some nice eyecandy.  Special effects were good and the movie was decent.

Featured Story: The Lilydale Leopards

What's better than another great featured review from the hardworking review team here on GA? When it's about one of my fellow admins (you're reading that right, if you missed that Graeme is now stuck on our unruly team) that members might not know is also an accomplished author with a very popluar sporty epic. Sound intriguing? Check out Timothy's review we've been keeping under wraps to surprise @Graeme with today!    The Lilydale Leopards Graeme Reviewer: Timothy M. S

It's starting again

It's starting again.   The sobriety.     I talked to my cousin over the weekend about what my Dad has been going through.  And how my Dad is courting sobriety again.  For the record, the longest my Dad has been sober has been two years, and that was when I was a child and my Mom threatened to leave him and take myself and sister with her.  He threw out all the alcohol in the house.     Another time was when I was living in Atlanta, out of college and working at a bo

Old

I realized this morning that I’m old. Not growing old, just old. This not to say I’ve reached the end of my creative cycle because there are still stories to tell. I have one story that is ready to be published, but I’ve lost contact with my editor (Sharon). Such is life that I should still have stories to be published, but no editor to review them prior to publishing. I await contact with my prior editor to be reestablished, but so far I don’t think much is going to occur in that direction

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

I Am Number Four is an interesting book.  Human looking aliens are amongst us and they are being hunted by some really bad aliens.  It's quite the romp and an enjoyable book.  It's the first in a whole series that has a follow up in the pipeline as well.  I enjoyed it and I really need to spend some time to finish reading the whole series.  Check it out!
