    Word Triggers

    By Valkyrie

Certain otherwise-innocuous words can be a trigger for some people.  Maybe it's a negative association with the word - a reminder of past trauma or a social faux pas.  It could be a word that becomes an inside joke - an innocent word given a not-so-innocent meaning.  These words make us cringe and avoid them and not really want to explain our reaction to other people.  For me, a certain spring-blooming flower is a word trigger.  I avoid saying the name of this flower because I have  negative ass

Getting Back On The Horse

Many years ago, I was hit with a horrible bout of depression. During some of the sessions with my therapist, he talked about affirmations.  I keep some on my desk at work, I have several pages of them bookmarked on my laptop, and my husband will occasionally write one on the bathroom mirror.  Reading them, seeing them, is very helpful to me. Well, last week was an absolute disaster at work, and some of that negativity carried over to my home life.  I’m still working on recovering.  In tryin

2017 Health Issue Update

On September 25, 2015 2017, I went for my six month Urological check-up and came away with a clean bill of health. My next check-up is in six months again.    It's been almost four years now since the bladder tumors were found and I'm Cancer free. After the next appointment, I might be able to switch to an annual bladder check. It's not all that exciting having a small flexible scope pushed into the urethra, not to mention the burning pain when I need to pee the next few times.

To my big bro

Its September 28th. You should be twenty nine today. But you didn't even reach two years old. I'm sorry that you never even reached two years old. I'm sorry I never got to know you. I'm sorry you died in a fire crying by yourself. I'm sorry your mother wasn't there when sure should've been. I'm sorry your father wasn't there when he should've been. I'm sorry I wasn't there, but then I couldn't have been. I'm sorry that your parents thought so little of you that almost exactly to the day nine mon

Improve & Encourage #5: W.A.R. Part 1 & 2

I hope you all enjoyed the last Improve & Encourage feature, because it's time for another one. These features are meant to both provide feedback to authors and, similar to story reviews, point out stories that readers might not otherwise have found. It's similar to a review, in that the person doing the critique tells you what they liked about the story, but it differs in that they also provide constructive criticism. Each author signed up to participate, and sign up's are still open!  Thes

Buffalo Wild WIng Encounter

It’s Thursday, September 21st, 2017 and I’m in Daly City California.  It’s my day off, nothing special about that except that “N” is working the morning shift and I have the whole day off to do whatever I want.  If I want to stay in bed all day naked, watching YouTube videos, I can.  Or if I want to do a marathon of jerking off to free porn on the whole interwebs, I can and no one can say anything about it.  And don’t think I didn’t contemplate that last one this morning after waking up wi

Plagiarism Strikes Again

We hate making these types of blog posts as we generally do not share moderation issues with the site membership. There are very few exceptions to this rule, and plagiarism is one of them. Plagiarism comes in many forms, and to make our position perfectly clear: STEALING OTHER PEOPLES WORK WILL NOT BE TOLERATED ON GAY AUTHORS!! Posting plagiarized content on GA is an immediate banning offense. Generally, when plagiarism strikes GA, it involves stories, but not always. In this case,

Reflections on my birthday

I want to thank everyone at Gay Authors who has made my visits here so satisfying and enjoyable.  The stories are what brought me here and keeps me coming back so I first want to thank Mark Arbour for his CAP Series and later his Bridgemont saga. Mark's stories are what brought me to the site in the first place and they keep me coming back.  Along the way C. James' "Circumnavigation" and Andrew Q Gordon's stories also captivated me...and so many others too including Nephylim, Libby Drew, AnytaSu

Gay Authors Officially 15 Years Old on 9/13

Gay Authors 15th Anniversary September 13, 2017   Gay Authors has a big date now upon us.  On September 13, 2002, Gay Authors was officially started.  It is our official 15th Anniversary.  We started off with just Comicality's and my stories hosted. We didn't really start building the community until July 31, 2003.  In order to celebrate this remarkable milestone, I've asked a bunch of authors and members to reflect upon their time here at Gay Authors.  I list Comicality first
