    Summer Resolutions, Anyone?

    By Aditus

This year I’m going to clear out the shed. I’ll try this long hike someone recommended. I won’t sleep in every day.  I’ll eat healthy, all these yummy vegetables and fruit that are available now. I will finish the story that has been on hold for so long. Summer break starts on Monday, and I have a very long list. What about you? Maybe try to write a prompt story?   PT Prompt #352   Dale bought an ice cream maker, but vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry are just about that

New beginnings

SP and I bought promise / engagement rings today. His is 10mm wide - 6mm black band in the center, with two small silver bands on the outside, spaced slightly off the main ring; mine is a 6mm black band.  It was good.   We did not go to the cemetery today like I had originally thought I would. The last two years I had very strong "intuition" on what day and time I should be there. This year... nothing. That really upset me yesterday; then felt bad about being upset about it when SP and

Time Out

I just had a really bad weekend. It started on Friday and it was one of those days where nothing seemed to go right. Work was annoying, people not listening and not doing things that they said they were going to.  My lunch hour I tried to work on editing a chapter and ended up some inserting a three paragraph header onto every page. My 180 page story became almost 300 pages and was all messed up.  It didn't get any better at home. My husband knocked over a glass of Powerade onto the ti

The rheal

Do you really want to know who I am? Or do you want the carefully edited version of who I want you to see? Of who I expect you'll want to see? Because the real me? Well, he's doughtful, and questi0oning, and drunk, and scared. And he doesn't really know what tomorrow will bnring. Reality is niot clean or carefully designed. It simply is. And if you can't handle  that, then you should unfollow this imperfect vessel. And maybe follow someone who will more careully alighn himselrf wi

Necromancer done

Thank you to everyone who read, commented and liked my first novella!! ✨🎉 Necromancer is done. Please recommend or review and all that other stuff people can do on here. Now onto the important topic of novella number two... there's no use being coy about the title seeing as all the covers are visible. Still I'd like some comments or something to know that people are eager for what's to come next.  Do you really want it?  Or should I delay and do some info teasing for hype or whatevers?

So You Want to Be a Better Writer?

Readers for the most part are here to read. Not help us improve. Nothing wrong with that and mostly it's all good. That's the big draw on GA, the interactions with others. It's brilliant. I love the comments readers leave. But there really is no book or magic beans or contract with the devil which will make you a better writer. So how to improve? First you need some talent for the written word. Second and maybe the biggest thing is: Authors have to improve themselves.  It is

What I Want

I read about what people say about lockdown and this pandemic. I watch my beautiful boy suffer from sadness he doesn't understand. Watch him choke back tears he doesn't know why he's crying. In the dark of night I hold him close when his dreams are bad and when he needs the comfort of my skin.  I listen to people complain about how hard it is. How they want normal back.  I wonder what normal is gonna look like? I am lucky that I have tim with me. Lucky that I can hold him close an

Finding Gratefulness

i have a "Grateful Jar" and it's been a little lonely lately. i'm finding being grateful is a little harder these days, with so much “taken away.”  i thought about that tonight while i re-read some blogs, poems and stories here. Looking back at what people have written, stories about hardship, blogs about overcoming obstacles. i heard the kids hanging out together while Phil and i were on the couch. It was a combination that had me thinking about what i have, what makes me happy. i am

The Dark Beginning of the Sojourney

It's been years since the last time I wrote a story (I've written poems in between, however).  There was this story fragment that started off with the main character trying to jump off Golden Gate Bridge, but it was never finished.  It was very emotionally taxing to say the least, and the amount of research done on suicide eventually lead me to give up.  My life experience just wasn't there, and my own emotional state wasn't the best either to carry on such stake. The story idea has been re

Incubi

So I don't know how much occult stuff would be frowned upon to talk about 💀 But part of the reason I made this blog was to talk about Allan as well as writing and other stuff 😈 So when I have sex with my incubus lately he will wait for me to start imagining a scenario before engaging.  Then I feel impressions on my body, for me it's an almost soreness between my legs as if he's slamming me.  And several times when I'm about to climax he'll stop me, and I'll even feel my cum get pushed

Lessons learned

So this week I discovered that I may have jumped into the deep end of the pool without my water wings, now I'm learning quickly to swim without them. I'm sure as Hell not gonna sink! I decided to jump into writing a story with a strong BDSM theme. Five chapters in I've discovered that I need to rewire my brain and how it can relate to the material.  I did do a lot of research, and not on porn sites! I have since learned that I still have a lot to learn, which is ok by me. Part of

Q&A Blog Feature

As per Renee Stevens' pinned post in the Lounge, this is a good way to start off a blog 😋 Authors: Have you experienced writer's block? If so, what helped you get past it? Yes. Unfortunately I believe the best way is to force yourself to write. First write out the dot point list of what your chapter will contain, and then sentence-by-agonizing-sentence grind that baby out of you like your bones in a meat-grinder.  It hurts and it's supposed to. Even though its a strain, in my expe

Lost Season One: Pilot Episode

So earlier this year, I started a show called Watchmen on HBO. I was actually a huge fan of the movie when it came out in 2009, and was really excited to see what HBO was going to do with that property. And I was really excited to find out that it wasn’t going to be a remake of the movie but more of a continuation of that story in the same universe. From the opening scenes I was hooked and after I watched the last episode, I wanted to find out who created it. And that’s when I was introduc

Lost in Memory

My brother got dad moved into his new facility yesterday -- or, more accurately, watched as staff got him moved. Sent me a pic of the room through the window; looks nice from what I could see. Said dad was able to walk [using a walker] from the car to his room, but also asked if he would still be in the Army. 😢 Dad's not been in the Army since the end of WWII.  Hoping that by the time SP and I am able to get up there to see him he still remembers who I am. It's been very upsetting and

Sneak Peek!

Happy Sunday, Everyone!  I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. The weather is starting to get really nice here, which is going to make staying at home more challenging. I moved some of my plants outside to the balcony now that it’s warm enough, and even got a little bit of outside writing time in!  The Syndicate is still coming along. I have just about everything plotted out how I want to, so now it’s just a matter of getting there. I have a personal goal of getting it finished

Making the Light

"My batteries are almost gone, and it's getting dark." This was the slightly-romanticized description of the last transmission from the little, tenacious rover, Opportunity, on the planet Mars. It had been there and operating for fifteen years - thirteen beyond the wildest dreams of NASA engineers. It heavily depended on solar power, and over time the dust storms on the planet slowly covered its solar cells. That last transmission came when a planet-wide dust storm hit. The rover sent the t

Update From Gold Bar

Wow, I didn’t realize I haven’t done a blog entry since September, 2018. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then, so I suppose it’s time for an update on what’s occurring here in Gold Bar, WA. First off, I’ve been doing quite a bit of writing, but other than the 2019 Fall Anthology and the 2020 Spring Anthology I haven’t posted any stories here since August 2018. In 2019, I wrote a YA Fantasy novel, The Birthday Present, about a young boy who runs away from home to go to Faerie

At Home During COVID-19 and Self Compassion

Many of us observe the world through a window Nature entertains us with wind, rain and snow Crows dive and swoop over tree tops While squirrels run and gambol with no fear, — wondering where the nuts are.   My poetry has been limited lately .. but i haven't lost my sense of humour completely yet. Prose too, is suffering, though in the last few days I've been able to write a bit more on the new story @Wayne Gray and i are writing. Not a lot though, ma

Translations

There are about 7000 living languages in the world. (Ethnologue) We come upon texts that have been originally written in a language other than our own all the time: manuals, articles, papers, songs, movies, TV shows, books, etc. Personally, I try to read or listen to the original version, emphasis on ‘try’, seeing the sheer number of possible languages. It means I have to rely on translations. My question for readers: Do you prefer an as verbatim as possible translation over an in

Synth of The Week #1-Dust by M.O.O.N

Hey Knights, during this interesting time in our lives I'm sure many of us have turned to music to help cope. I in particular fancy synth as one of my favorite genres of the medium so to kick off a little series I want to start (And to give this blog some love .___.), I thought I'd share one of my all time favorites. It's mellow, but has a slight moment where the tempo picks up, nevertheless I turn to this track for both uncertain and dark times, and for times where I just wanna relax and let th

New Cover!

I hope everyone's having a nice weekend. It's been beautiful today, so I made sure to get out for some social distancing-approved fresh air. I've also been working on the next Syndicate chapter. This one was originally written during a NaNoWriMo sprint and hoo boy, does it show. A lot of repeated words and weak adjectives. There's also been some story changes along the way, so I made sure to account for those as well. Hopefully, that will be posted tonight!  I post this story on a couple ot
