The Summer Job - 51. Operation Paladin

Detective Jack Murphy stepped in front of the assembled SWAT teams of the city and country Sheriff’s office and said, “Gentlemen. Welcome to Operation Paladin. Tonight at twelve-thirty we have the honor to make one of the biggest busts in the history of our city and county. I’m going to start with Gaddis of Narcotics for background.”

Gaddis stood and said, “We got a tip about a mid-level dealer working out of the Trans-Continental Shipping Company. We set up a DUI enforcement checkpoint and popped him with ten pounds of high-grade weed and party drugs. We flipped him. He made deliveries to four scumbags, and we got it all on video and audio tape. Working together with the DEA, we’re going to hit all the premises at once. The Feds will hit Trans-Continental, and we will hit four residences in town. It’s the fourth one we’re concerned about.”

Murphy took over the narrative and said, “Number four is just about as bad as it can get folks. He’s a former decorated Green Beret. We expect there will be a number of teenagers on the premises. The possibility of a hostage situation is extremely high.”

There were groans and Murphy continued, “This is where things get ugly. I’m going to let Sergeant Daniels of the City’s Youth Division take it from here.”

Daniels stood and said, “Using information we gained from the arrest early Saturday morning and a tip I received, it looks like we’ve got a very bad actor at work. We think Vice Principle Farmer of Grayson Middle School is a pedophile and appears to be running a child prostitution operation out of his home.”

There was stunned silence in the room, followed by a low growl. Cops hate this kind of perp; sending this kind of mutt to the pound was high on their to-do list.

One of the Murphy’s Tactical guys said, “Are you sure it’s Farmer? I know the guy. He was my Coach in Junior Varsity Football team. I never saw anything like that.”

Daniels said, “I know it’s shocking, but the evidence and sources are good enough for warrants. There are also some indications he might have had something to do with the interstate disappearance of a string of boys that ended in 2013. The only way we'll get the answers we need is to toss that house for evidence. We’ll have FBI forensics support on this one, and we’ve already borrowed some specialists from the Army in the form of some electronics specialists and a dog handler with a bomb sniffing Lab named Boom-Boom.”

Murphy took the briefing back over and said, “Farmer is a rich guy with military experience, and he’s been in that house about twenty years. There is no way to anticipate what kind of surprises he might have waiting for us. Let's get in, subdue the suspects and control the scene as quickly as possible. We don’t want to let it drag out and, we don’t want a hostage situation.”

Another one of the cops asked, “What’s with the bomb sniffing dog?”

Sergeant-Major Ricky Rials answered, “Farmer’s specialty was explosives. He set the demo charges that took out most of a company of Republican Guards back in 1990.”

Murphy asked, “What were his other specialties?”

Rials said, “Survival, escape and evasion. After he was injured in 1990 and recovered, he was a trainer at Bragg until he was honorably discharged.”

A teary eyed Doug asked, “How are you so sure they’re coming?”

Farmer sighed and said, “Tyrone and I had a compromise code set up. It’s a phrase that wouldn’t just randomly pop up in any conversation. He must have gotten popped with the load and the Narcs had him make a controlled delivery. They probably have me on tape taking possession of Quinn’s load.”

Doug said, “Shit, shit, shit! It isn’t even your dope! We’ll tell them...”

Farmer put a hand on Doug’s shoulder and said, “It won’t matter. I’ve been thinking about retirement anyway.”

Heartbroken, Doug heard something in his mentor’s voice and said, “You’ve got a plan. Take me with you. Please!”

“It could be dangerous son. It might get us both killed.”

“You know what I’ve got here”, Doug responded. “I’m willing to take the risk. I don’t want to be here without you. A new start somewhere else would be good for both of us.”

Farmer sighed and said, “I thought you might feel that way and, I’m going to need some help to pull it off.”

Doug smiled and said, “Now you’re talking. How can I help? What’s the plan?”

Farmer shook his head and said, “All you get is what you need to know, OK?”

Doug nodded eagerly.

Farmer asked, “How do you get people to stop looking for you?”

Doug shook his head.

Farmer replied, “You make them think you’re already dead. Then you walk away when no one is looking.”

Phillip was feeling a little randy after rolling around on the floor with his friends for a half hour. He happened to pass James going up on his way downstairs, turned around and followed him.

James looked over his shoulder, saw Phillip and his brow went up. Phillip used his index finger and had James follow him to an unused bedroom. Once inside, he locked the door and embraced James.

James whispered, “Are we going to do what I think we’re going to do?”

Phillip replied, “Only if you are into it. I have a game in mind that’s fun and I think you’ll like it. Is there anybody in the house you wouldn’t enjoy having a go at?”

James grinned and said, “Besides for my brothers, no. What’s the game?”

“It’s called BJ tag”, Phillip explained. “I blow you and, assign you to catch someone of my choice and blow them.”

Grinning widely, James said, “It sounds like fun. I’m in.”

Phillip kissed James on the neck and whispered, “Get naked stud. I’m about to blow you like a hurricane.”

James lost his shorts, lay on the bed and Phillip started out by licking his balls and then gave him a full court press blow job. James moaned, wiggled, gasped, shuddered and within a few minutes grabbed Phillip’s head and climaxed mightily.

Phillip lay down beside him, put his arm around him and said, “I’m not sure what I like best about you and your brothers. You and Marcus taste great, and you’re less filling.”

James was still catching his breath from Phillip’s five-star effort and, convulsed with laughter. As he was laughing Phillip kissed him on the nose and said, “Your assignment is... David Woods. He’s a cute little guy, but he’s hung better than you would expect. David has skills of his own so whoever you assign him will have a great time.”

James asked, “Can I tell him about the game and who picked him?”

Phillip said, “Of course. You have to and, whoever you pick for David will be in for a real treat.”

Pulling his shorts back on, James said, “I like this game.”

BJ Tag was off and running.

Doug said, “So when Mr. Quinn arrives around ten, I make my apologies and leave.”

Farmer said, “So far, so good.”

Doug continued, “I get on my bike, go to his house through his back gate and use the key fob thingie to get inside.”

Farmer said, “He has the same system I have. You can see the alarm panel lights turn green. Once you’re in his backyard, press the disarm button once to quiet the motion detectors. Go to the door and then press disarm again. The locks will unlatch.”

Doug asked, “How did you get one of his key fobs?”

Farmer chuckled and said, “Stoners, especially middle-aged stoners, are forgetful. I found it in my couch cushions after you guys had been... partying. I tested it so I know it works. He just assumed he lost it.”

“Now. What’s next?”

Doug thought of his itinerary and said, “Get something to eat from his kitchen, get some sleep and keep the burner phone you gave me close.”

Farmer said, “No one will be at Quinn’s house. He’ll be a little busy. It’ll be a Sunday morning, and it will take time for him lawyer up and for the cops to get a warrant for his place. I will join you there as soon as I can get through the perimeter they will set.”

Doug asked, “How are you going to manage that?”

Farmer grinned and said, “I may be old but, I’m in good shape, and I’ve still got skills. I expect to join you well before dawn.”

"How did you learn about all this stuff?"

"Green Berets work behind enemy lines. We have to know how to get out of tight spots."

Wheedling for clues, Doug asked, “I know I don’t need to know the next part but could you give me a hint?”

Farmer ruffled Doug’s hair and said, “We’re going on a modest motorcycle ride and then a long cruise to where it will be sunny and warm.”

My first reaction when Farmer said you make them think you're already dead is when the police go to raid his house he will have some kind of timed explosion go off or something like that and make it seem like he was inside.

Not knowing what is going to happen when Karl and Carlos meet Philip and his friends at the pizza place and they might hear that Farmer had died will they blame Philip?
