    2025 Anthology - Creature Feature - Guidelines

    By Valkyrie

I'm super excited about this year's theme!  There are so many possibilities.... Do I go with a cute fluffy kitty?  Or maybe a fire-breathing dragon?  Or an army of Norse penguins fighting Canadian otters?   It's a good thing there's a lot of time before the deadline, although with my prowess at procrastinating, I probably won't start till the week it's due   The guidelines for this year's anthology are posted below.  So now that we know the theme and the parameters... start writing!

September C S R Discussion Day: Thaw By Puppilull

Did you have a chance to read Puppilull's story, Thaw, for this month's CSR feature? I hope so!! I've asked her a few questions about herself, her writing, and the story itself so enjoy this month's interview and remember to share your thoughts about her story or the interview below.   What's your favorite room in your house? Do you plot or write there? I don’t really have a favorite room, unless you count the bedroom since sleeping is very nice. My stories are usually plotted in various plac

Weekly Wrap Up (September 18 - September 24)

Well, it's the end of the week and this one was a busy one. Just a reminder that tomorrow is the CSR Discussion Day for Thaw by Puppilull. If you haven't finished it yet, but wish to take part in the discussion day, you still have time! Also, we're only about a month away from the Fall Anthology deadline (October 28th), so start polishing up those stories and get them sent in to the Anthology Proof Team. Now, let's take a look at the busy week we had in the various GA News blogs!   September's

Not Posting In Pit Until Everything Is Over, Focus Priorities

I know, why am I giving up the ability to comment on an exciting period of time filled with every sort of trick and gaffe imaginable, quite frankly, I just feel like people perceives I am only in it for politics and debates. I am opinionated, I am strong willed, and I am aggressive in what I see as necessary and should be done, but that's who I am.   I've grown up on GA, through multiple boyfriends and multiple attempts to write new stories. I've seen many peers rise and disappear into the set

And I Don't Do Lonely Well

The husband leaves at 10am tomorrow morning. I have plans, I have friends coming to stay, I have my family and his family all telling me to come over whenever. I think they think it'll all be fine. I'll be busy, between the Goblin and the dog, we've a lot on. And I have work.   But I see the sunsets and the long nights ahead, and that's where being alone scares me a little bit. We haven't spent more than 5 nights alone in a decade, and he's going to be gone for three weeks. I'm not going prete

In Response

For Ben & Timmy:   Good poems frolic in the sun. They bring Arctic Lights to the barren tundra. They also manage to inundate the soils of Egypt and blow khamsins over the salt flats of Kutch in the very same day.   Good poems deserve a kiss and a wink.   23/09/2016 ©asamvav111

Writing Prompts #532 & #533

I'm back! (For now) Did y'all miss me? Thank you to both Cia and Steve (Wildone) for taking over for me while I was on vacation. I hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend, I know I am! To help start it off right, it's time for the weekly prompts. Hopefully one of these great prompts will inspire you, and don't forget to share your responses (at least a link) in the forum so that they can possibly be featured next week. Also, as always, remember that prompt responses under 1K have to be p

A Numbers Game

Yesterday I made a post on my message board and my site Facebook page because, dear reader, I'm angry with you. The numbers I am about to share, specifically, don't apply to GA—but you have just to look at the number of views for a story versus the number of reviews, as that seems to be the standard for contact on this site.   You know, reader, I'm a reasonably busy guy. I have a full time job, husband and all the bills that go with a home and a life. I have two kids full time with more than t

September Signature Excerpt: The Art Of Being Gay By Cole Matthews

Cole Matthews' The Art of Being Gay was Monday's Signature Feature. Did you grab your copy of the signature banner so you can share your love for Cole's story? If not, you can do that here! Today we're featuring his chosen excerpt.   Cole says... This excerpt gives you a glimpse at the tone and character of the story. It's a comedy, a farce really, and also gives the reader some of Roy's attributes. This segment also shows how Roy may not think he's ready to date, but fate really doesn't care

Pup Play Education Lesson

A key piece on the nature of Pup Play: -Pup play is not S&M/Sadism&Masochism, yes there is leather, leashes, and collars, but a pup is not a punishment object, he's your animistic partner and when you guys play, it's for fun not pain.   As gay writers, we do write scenes of exotic sex, but I also feel obligated to give people some pointers and good advice if they want to re-enact a werewolf story of an Alpha and his Beta lover. I haven't written a werewolf story in quite a while, but t

I've Been Away For A Long Time...

In my last blog, I wrote about witnessing a young girl commit suicide in front of me by jumping in front of a train. I knew it affected me, but it did more damage than I thought. There are days when I don't dream about it, and those are the good days. I need to go back a few years to explain why my depression came on so slowly that I didn't realize I was depressed.   I had thyroid cancer almost ten years ago, which led to me having a complete thyroidectomy. I have to take a pill for the rest o

September's Signature Feature: The Art Of Being Gay By Cole Matthews

September's Signature Feature is The Art of Being Gay by Cole Matthews. This story came about because Cole was wondering what it was like for middle-aged guys struggling with these questions. He wanted the story to be organic, fresh, and not planned, so he posted each chapter as it was written, using the feedback from readers to influence each chapter.     Length: 83,473   Description: Chad was outed, his life in shambles. His son, Justin, was his only lifeline to happiness. Roy h

Depression, Bob Dylan, And The Future

I really don’t know where this is going. I’m out of words to put into my current stories and so I resort to listening to music. My choice tonight is Bob Dylan. I could have chosen The Beatles, Eric Clapton, or The Travelling Wilburys, but I didn’t. I’m not really into modern music because there seems to be no logic to the available choices. Music can go only so far until it starts to repeat itself.   If anything, I’m at a loss to what might happen in the future. My only point of reference at t

Weekly Wrap Up (Sept 11 - 17)

In case you haven't guessed it yet, Renee is still away . If she isn't back soon we might have to send out a search party. Both Cia and I are exhausted with picking up her slack   So here is what happened this past week.   Monday, we usually would have a story featured in the Featured Story blog. This week, Cia gave us some insight though a review by Aditus on Mikesboy's poetry for NaPoWriMo. This appeared to be a great success as there is 2 pages of comments left for the feature. It is go

I forgot that I was supposed to Renee this week and was sidelined by a migraine, so this featured review is a bit late... which just goes to show that, unlike Mikiesboy, I could never remember to do NaPoWriMo. As the weather chills, I turn to more reading as the days are getting shorter too.   We had a busy week here at GA and with Renee away, I am going to attempt to fill in for her.   Monday, we started off the week with Cia letting us know about the C S R feature for the month of September. Story Updates: 0's And 1's Book 2

Yes, I am working on its recovery right now. I should have at least 3 chapters ready by next week.   Also, I am really glad that my story is getting some word of mouth treatment, thanks Dark and everyone for sharing this among other readers. I've started getting fan mail again from first time readers   I know everyone wants to hear a few spoilers about Book 2, so I'll give you some character directions:   1. Hunter- Following Book 1, he's lost a lot of direction in his fight for justice.

A Peaceful Transfer Of Power ...

Another Last Post Wins entry. I am no longer queen - I have been usurped To welcome our new monarch, Valkyrie, I wrote the following to help her pass the time as she's recovering from an operation.   [A bunch of hacks are waiting in a palace anteroom for a press briefing to start. They look engaged but not exactly riveted. The door opens and their eyes all swivel, focussing on the individual who enters. The (now ex-) queen walks up to the podium - she is dressed regally but lacks one vital it

Sometimes ... Sometimes I Mess Things Up

Something happened the other day, the details of which I prefer not to share.   Something that threw me out of whack far enough that I decided that GA was not the place for my poetry. I was sure I was making the right choice about that.   However, I've had to rethink it. I've had lots of PMs, lots of comments and one PM from a reader who said she never has contacted an Author before, but she did me and she told me what she thought of my choice. That was very humbling. All the replies and co
