Gary L Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 But he sounds more “colonial” these days. Upps will I be in trouble? 4

The author has a great idea for a story, but it needs to be well thought out before executing. It's almost as though whoever wrote this decided to at the last minute and then tapped away furiously on their keyboard. Overall though, I'm really enjoying most of the submissions. It's fun to read all the different takes on the hidden theme. Kudos to all the authors who managed to submit something. They still have more talent that I have. We all have good days and bad days. I can tell that some people don't always like what I write either, despite making it onto several top lists for well-read stories. (My storytelling can get weird because I go to odd places due to my extensive knowledge of various subjects and genres, I try to play with too many things. It's fun if you get it.) To whoever the author of Forever Young is "Don't lose heart", some of us have far worse reviews than needing more detail. When I had a BF, I was told by him to hold off on the coffee when I was writing some of my more frenetic stories. I am tempted to write for the upcoming Anthology, it was hard to find something that matches the current stipulation for "hidden". Maybe the SA should try another attempt in a less restrictive format. Edited August 5, 2024 by W_L 2 5
chris191070 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 @wildone is Canadian. Not sure if his style. 3
Site Administrator Popular Post wildone Posted August 6, 2024 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted August 6, 2024 Education systems are different in Canada in whatever region you are in, and language too! I know Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan usually follow an elementary 1-6, junior high 7-9 and high school 10-12. To us the whole, freshman, sophomore, junior, senior thing makes no sense at all. Seniors are grade 12 students and that is the only label. My nephews do French immersion, their track is 1-4 elementary, 5-9 middle, and 10-12 for high school. @Mikiesboy, back in the day of the dinosaurs, 70-80’s, Ontario had grade 13, is that no longer around? Anyways, these comments intrigue me, so off I go to read. 😁 6
Popular Post CincyKris Posted August 6, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 6, 2024 I don't have a good guess on this author. Even though Bob Dylan's Forever Young started this tale, the song that came to my mind was Shooting Star by Bad Company. The rise, fall, and death of a star. 3 4

I've been a Canadian since I was born, but nothing in this says Canada particularly to me. Maybe I'm a bit dense or blind. Maybe this Canadian is from the Maritimes or B.C. or Northwest Territories or Nunavut, where things may be different from Ontario, where I'm from. So, what is it? 2 6

Popular Post Bill W Posted August 6, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 6, 2024 I only suggested the idea of a Canadian author due to the British style terminology and the mention of Jr. High, which I don't believe they have in the UK. 3 4

True, if they said something like Form 5 or Grade 7, you can tell. Of course, I heard the form system is still used in Hong Kong for their junior high schools. Commonwealth and former colonies might also be a possibility. Edited August 6, 2024 by W_L 2 4

Popular Post Gary L Posted August 6, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 6, 2024 And so to the cruise story. There is some funny bitchy humour, relationship development, and discrete reference to sexual activity. There is a strange reference to GA and why female authors on the site downplay descriptions of sex. A red herring, I suspect, as it certainly isn’t true of some of the female authors I’ve read here. Once again, the style feels familiar but I need the list!!! MANY CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE AUTHORS! It has been a good week to login to GA. Thank you, all. 🥰 8
Cane23 Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 @Bill W as for the previous story: The Yacht Club Chapter 1 by Secret Author - Gay Authors 3 1

Yes, but it really sounds like something @kbois would write: “Women don’t usually write graphic sex scenes, and when they do, they’re all romantic, with the guys kissing, then stopping to gaze into each other’s eyes, giggling, and then kissing again.” * Not that I suggest anything * 😇 2 3
chris191070 Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 The Yacht Club is written by a female author I think, possibly @Mrsgnomie or @kbois 4 1

Popular Post CincyKris Posted August 6, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 6, 2024 Due to writing style, I thought @Demiurge, but the woman writer diss makes me think it is a woman writer. Or it's a red herring. And there are more women writers than just @Mrsgnomieand @kbois! 1 6 1
