Timothy’s Terrible Prompt Stories - 51. No Prompt: Third Date Part I

em>A lovely Italian meal is un buon modo, a good way, to start their date.
An Eric POV chapter.

Once Jasper had dropped Nelson and Eric off near the restaurant, the older teen took charge of their date. Eric was slightly taken aback but also impressed when his boyfriend took his hand and calmly led him into the restaurant. They were immediately approached by the headwaiter, and Nelson didn’t show any of the hesitation or shyness Eric had seen on other occasions.

“Good evening, Signor Alfredo.” Ah, he was familiar with this place; that explained it.

“Good evening, Signor Nelson. Your table is ready for you.”

The waiter led them to one of the alcoves on the sidewall and lit the candle while the boys seated themselves across from each other on the padded U-shaped bench around the intimate table for two.

Alfredo handed them the two menus he had grabbed on the way, and smiled at Nelson.

“Your Padre called me and made it clear you’re to order whatever you like, barring il alcolico, of course. It will go on his conto, so please indulge yourself.” He winked at both boys, and Nelson nodded.

“Yes, Dad told me the same, so I think we’ll probably have a three course meal. Can you recommend anything in particular from today’s menu?”

Eric had eaten at restaurants with his parents and Rob, but it was a different experience to be on a date. Nelson was confident, and the waiter treated him like an adult, taking time to discuss the pros and cons of the various offers. Granted, they had arrived earlier than most guests eating out on a Friday night, since Nelson had suggested six o’clock in order to have time at his place before Eric was supposed to go home. Now that he was spending the night, they were under no time constraints and could enjoy a leisurely meal together. This date was already making him feel very special and grown-up.

“Thank you very much, Signor Alfredo, we’ll look at the options and decide together,” Nelson concluded, and the headwaiter beamed at him.

“If you decide on il pesce, I can recommend un buon sidro to go with it.” With those words Alfredo left to greet a family with two pretty twin girls, who were apparently going to celebrate their 10th birthday in style.

“What’s un buon sidro?” Eric asked.

“Probably non-alcoholic cider.”

“I guess you’ve been here pretty often?”

“Yeah, it’s my parents’ favorite restaurant; they love Italian food. Alfredo has been in charge all the time I can remember, and Mom says I was only three the first time they brought me here. I hope you don’t mind us coming here on our date?”

“Of course not, I think it’s awesome.” Eric opened the menu which listed the dishes in Italian with brief explanations in English underneath. “So, tell me what’s good to eat here. Wait, how come there are no prices written?”

“Mine don’t have any either, but I think I know why. The first time Dad took Mum for a meal here, only his menu had prices, and my mom’s was like this. They asked Alfredo and he said ‘Certamente! La signora should not concern her bella head with il saldo…ze money.’” Nelson did his best fake Italian accent and they both laughed. “Apparently, that’s how it’s done in fancy restaurants in Italy.”

“OK, so how come we’re both getting the ladies’ menu?” Eric asked.

“Probably because my parents are paying for the meal. Otherwise, I sure we would have gotten regular menu.”

“Or you would,” Eric replied. “Seeing as you invited me on this cool date. I shall have to come up with a suitable reward.” He let his foot slide up and down Nelson’s lower leg and licked his lips.

Nelson went beet-red and stuttered, “Ne…never mind, th…that’s OK. Let’s look at the menu.”

Eric smirked and went back to studying the options. After making their choices they chatted about the restaurant. Eric asked about the headwaiter using Italian words, and Nelson said he thought Alfredo did it on purpose to add some Italian flavor to the conversation. They both agreed it was rather funny and went to the décor which also featured several pictures of well-known Italian places. Nelson admitted he had wanted to go to Rome for years, due to his family eating here fairly frequently.

When Alfredo approached, Eric asked Nelson to order, so he wouldn’t have to break his tongue on the Italian names. The older teen had recommended the Vitello tonnato, veal with tuna sauce as a starter or Antipasto, and ordered Carpaccio for himself. Eric liked his boyfriend’s suggestion of tasting several things so they chose two different main courses with pasta.

“We’ll wait with ordering desserts, if that’s OK?”

Certamente, Signor Nelson. What would you like to drink?”

“I would like a bottle of cider, but my companion prefers Coca Cola. And we’d like some ice water too.”

Va bene, I shall be back presto.” Alfredo smiled at them both and walked over to the bar. He came back with their drinks and poured both the cider and the coke in the wine glasses on the table, and added water to the tumblers next to them. He then disappeared into the kitchen.

Nelson raised his glass to Eric. “Thank you for asking me to be your boyfriend.”

Eric returned the gesture. “Thank you for inviting me to the Prom and on this date.”

“It’s the first time, I’ve done this. I was a nervous wreck until the moment you opened the door.”

“You’ve never been on a date before?”

“Not one where I was in charge.”

“I would never have guessed. I don’t know if I can come up with anything as fancy as this for our next date.”

“It’s not a competition, babe. The only thing that matters is spending time together. Actually, I worried you would think this was pretentious, but—”

“But you feel comfortable here, and it’s also safe, because Alfredo knows your parents.” Eric was clever enough to understand this part of Nelson’s reasoning. “Don’t worry, Nelson, I like this place and I can’t wait to taste the food.”

The bright smile which blossomed on Nelson’s face had his stomach doing somersaults. Fuck, his boyfriend was beautiful when he smiled and those brown eyes shone with happiness. Without thinking, Eric reached across and took Nelson’s hand.

“Maybe we can go to Rome together one day. See if food in Italy is as good as what we get here.”

“I would love that.” Nelson’s fingers twisted to caress his hand, and they lost themselves in a gaze full of promises.

“Ahh, amore, così carino e bella.”

Both teens looked up, blushing, to find Alfredo with plates in his hands beaming at them.

He deposited their starters with a flourish. “Buon appetito, boys. Italian food is perfect for amore. Sì signori?”

Before they could answer, he winked and left them to enjoy their first meal alone.

I hope the Italian was easy to understand, otherwise I can provide translations in the story topic.

Aw!!! Nel took Eric to an Italian restaurant? How romantic! :D And of course, Eric was being quite seductive with him wanting to reward his boyfriend! He sure has become a more confident young man since we first met him.

I agree with Nel, dates don't have to be a competition. :) All that matters is the lovebirds enjoying themselves in whatever the date is, regardless if it is cheap or expensive.

Thank you Tim for another great chapter!

How cute! The boys are trying to be so mature and grown up. I think they're doing a good job, but I'm guessing they'll soon want to go somewhere a bit more private... For a deep and meaningful conversation of course!

LOL, yeah, they're doing their best to be a 'proper' couple on a date. Maybe Nelson should take Eric to the gym and show him some martial art tricks next time.

They have the whole night for that deep 'talk' :lmao:

Thanks for reading and reviewing.

I'm glad you approved, Drew. :D You and my other young CotT friends are like a test panel to show whether I get the young love and dating scenario right. ;)

Eric was fairly self-confident but introvert, although not quite enough to approach Nelson, who after all is a junior. But now Eric will pursue his goal with almost rob-like determination.

Thanks for reading and reviewing.

It's sweet that Nelson chose this restaurant that holds special meaning to share with Eric. Knowing it was a safe place to openly show their feeling for one another.

You're absolutely right about his reasons, dugh. Of course, having his dad offer to pay for the meal was an added incentive. ;) A final reason may be the chance of a moonlit walk home through the local park...

This was cute, Tim. I think Nelson scored some points with Eric. So this was only part one of the date? I anticipate more Italian then. And more opportunity for amor... Cheers... Gary....

I'm glad you liked it, Gary, and I think you're right about Eric being somewhat impresssed. ;)

After I posted it, I realized this chapter was actually quite short, but I hope to continue their date asap. Wtih more Italian-style amore :P

Thanks to both you and dugh for reading and reviewing. (Sorry I forgot to add that to my reply to you, dugh :*) )

I love the beginning of the date, Tim! The only problem I had was my narration software making a hash of the Italian, just as it does with Danish...so I don't know what was ordered by the boys, and only got the cider when it was mentioned later.
I had to laugh about the rationale behind the price-less menus, and Eric's thinking he was the wife. :) Such a tender and romantic setting for their first date. Now that they are spending the night together, I hope they don't rush into consummating their union, so to speak. I loved the idea of it occurring after the Prom...tonight could be exploring the tender side of their relationship, either by passionate making-out, or at most, oral sex, but who knows where their hormones will lead them?
Hm, no prompt eh? And I'm using one for my next chapter--the world's gone mad--mad, I say!

I think it's sweet that Nelson brought Eric to a restaurant that seems to mean so much to his family, and It was great that Eric seemed to realize why Nelson brought him there as well. Although they are teenagers, with a teenager's raging hormones, they balance it well with maturity and an understanding of what their partner might be feeling. Great Date Night Part 1!

Sorry about the Italian, CG, I sent you a PM with translations.

Some friends of my mother experienced the price-less menu in a posh restaurant in either Rome or Paris, I forget which, and it was only when the husband started grumbling about the cost that the wife realized she had ordered the most expensive items on the menu.

I'm glad you felt the romance behind the rationale of being in this particular restaurant. I think Nelson is 'resigned' to having oral sex, but he'll put his foot down if Eric pushes him too far. I shall do my best to keep a tight rein on the hormones and passion. But some fun is bound to happen tonight. :P

No first line prompt was available, and I also did without for some of their previous date chapters. I look forward to reading yours.

Thanks, LL, I'm relieved everyone likes the choice of restaurant so far, and I'm very pleased you notice the mature teen behavior. One of my reasons for writing this story was to balance all those headless-chicken teens which people so many stories on GA. Ie teens who let their emotions rule them all the time and never seem to have a reational thought or are capable of acting sensibly even occasionally.

I think you capture 'teenage suave' pretty convincingly here ;) I like Nelson's cool, collected attitude, and I'm glad you put him in a place where he feels he's in his element.

It also worked along the lines of aphrodisiac on Eric. I predict quite a hot experience coming in the night…. Now please get busy plotting that out in your cool, collected mind :)

Thanks, AC, official (teen) dates are really difficult for me, because we don't have those over here, som I'm delighted you think it worked well. Both Nelson and Eric like to feel safe and in control of the situation. Then they can relax and enjoy themselves.

About that predicted hot experience you're probably right. ;) I'll try to get writing, but there's a PPC deadline coming up.

Very sweet. Normally I don`t like teenagerstories, because I am surrounded by teenagers the whole day, but this is really nice. Retrospective I can say I felt never more mature and philosophic as with sixteen, having sophisticated discussions with my love.

Lyssa

Thanks, Lyssa. Yeah, I can se how having to deal with teens all day will put you off those stories. I'm glad you're make Nelson and Eric the exception to the rule. Nice to have another GA friend who thinks some teens can be sensible and mature too, even when in love. ;)

Why can’t there be a warning on those stories? Those are the kinds of stories I want to avoid!

Almost as bad are kids who act and/or speak like adults. Mature is one thing, but a 5 year old doesn’t sound or act like an adult. Teenagers shouldn’t sound Machiavellian. It’s so artificial and annoying.

And very few of us are able to tap into endless wealth. My daddy didn’t give me a million dollars.

All of those stories should be tagged as Fantasy too! ;-)

Well, there is a warning on some of them. Begins with a C. ;)

Anyway, it's not easy to write what you don't know, and who can remember being five years old?

But you're right about lots of stories being fantasy and needing the willing suspension of disbelief. If they're well written I can accept that.
