Here Kitty, Kitty - 3. Chapter 2.1
Simon spun around and stared in open-mouthed shock.
Where there had once been a cat now sat a big black man with hair the same silver as the cat’s had been. And he was naked.
“Who are you?” Simon blurted the first thing that came into his head. “Where did the cat go? Where are the cubs? Are they safe? Who are you?”
“You asked that last question twice.” The man’s tone was calm and unruffled.
“What?” Simon was lost for words. “I’m freaking out and all you can say is I’ve asked the same question twice? How about you start giving me some answers?”
The man tilted his head to one side. It was a very feline move, but Simon dismissed that idea out of hand. That was ridiculous. This scoundrel must have scared off the cat and the cubs.
Simon jumped when the man finally spoke. “My name is Kitryn. You met the cubs Nelson, Peter, and Francesca. Thank you for getting the metal out of my paw, the silver was keeping me from shifting.”
Simon was trying to make sense of what the man was saying, but it seemed as though he was almost speaking a different language. The cubs had names? Okay, that wasn’t so hard to believe. The big scary man’s name was Kitryn? Got that too. But, getting the metal out of his paw? Shifting? What the fuck? And where the hell had the cat gone?
“Are you okay there?” The question snapped Simon’s attention back to Kitryn. “Are you still…what did you call it? Freaking out?”
Simon glared at Kitryn. “Of course, I’m freaking out. One second I’m caring for a damn big cat, then the cat disappears to be replaced with a big naked human. Now, how did you get in here without me seeing or hearing you? And where is the cat? He was hurt and needs to be looked after.”
“I am no longer hurt. I healed once you got the silver out of my paw. And as for how I got in here, I was already in here. I am the cat.”
Simon had the sudden urge to bang his head against the cave wall. This guy was obviously not sane.
Several small whines sounded before the three cubs came racing in from outside and headed straight for Kitryn.
As Simon watched all three were surrounded by a glowing white light and then Kitryn was hit by three human shaped blurs.
When Kitryn sat back up Simon saw he held three toddlers. One was dark skinned and pale haired like Kitryn. The others were pale skinned and had long mousey colored hair.
Simon’s last thought was, what the fuck? Before his world went dark.

Kitryn sighed and placed the cubs on the ground. “What have I told you three about shifting in front of people? They don’t understand, and you could get hurt.”
“He not people,” Peter stated as only a child could. “He a vamp.”
“Yes, I know, but something doesn’t seem right. He was scared of me as a cat. But, when I shifted he seemed to be terrified of me as a human. Can one of you please go and get our pack? I left it by the entrance.” Peter scampered off.
“He new,” Fran announced.
Kitryn nodded “I know he’s new to us, but—”
Fran shook her head. “No, he new. New vamp. Not know what us are.”
Nelson had crept over and was stroking the vampire's head.
“What do you mean he’s a new vamp?” Kitryn kept a close eye on the unconscious human. “And all paranormals know about others. We’re taught all that from a young age, just as I’m teaching you.”
Fran just shook her head again. “He new vamp. Young like me, Peter, Nel.”
Kitryn was tempted to question her further but not even Fran understood her own gift for knowing things others didn’t. But, he had learned to take everything she said seriously.
Just who was this vamp then? And how did he come to be up a mountain alone?
