Timothy’s Terrible Prompt Stories - 9. Prompt 323 Can I talk to you? (II)
An Eric POV chapter
“Can I talk to you?”
Eric’s dad knocked on the open door and stuck his head in as he asked.
The blond teen was slumped on the bed, but sat up.
“Yeah, I guess so, Dad. Sorry about running off like that…”
“Never mind, son. Your mom was sorry about it too.” He came into the room and shut the door. Eric fiddled with his phone as his dad came over and sat on the bed. He had just texted Nelson to say that his mom had said no to him staying the night. Would his boyfriend be upset?
But what if matters were even worse? Maybe his dad coming up here was a bad sign. Eric couldn’t bear the thought of his date being cancelled. Going out with Nelson would be a dream come true.
“Eric, I know it’s embarrassing, but if it’s any comfort I had the same talk with Rob when he started dating Melanie. However, in some ways this it more difficult,” his dad said.
“Why? Because I’m gay?” Eric looked up at his dad, ready to be annoyed.
He smiled, “No, that makes it easier since we can skip the whole ‘don’t-get-her-pregnant’ issue. Although, I assume you know there are other reasons to use protection, when the time comes?” Eric nodded frantically and hoped his dad would get past the safe-sex talk quickly.
But it seemed there was something else on his mind.
“The difference is that your boyfriend is older and presumably more experienced. With Rob we emphasized that he should respect Melanie and not pressure her to have sex – of any kind. In this case, I want you to understand that you shouldn’t let Nelson push you too fast – or think that you have to suggest sex in order to keep a hold on him or to seem mature. If he cares about you, he’ll be prepared to wait and take it slow. Do you get what I mean?”
Eric was blushing like mad half-way through, but he managed to say, “Yes, Dad.”
“Good, and if he doesn’t respect you, I’m sure Rob will be more than happy to teach Nelson a lesson. Except he wouldn’t stand a chance, if I understand correctly?”
Eric couldn’t help laughing at the funny face his dad was making.
“Yeah, Nelson’s parents suggested he take classes in self-defense when he came out to them. He happened to be good at martial arts, so he kept it up. He told me he’d never use it to attack anyone, and he’s rarely had to resort to his abilities in order to get out of tricky situations. One of them was during his freshman year where he ‘wiped the floor’ with a senior who was on the football team. It’s legendary at school now, and no one has messed with him since.”
“Hmm, I see. So, when is Nelson expecting you?”
Eric tried to suppress the grin breaking out as he realized his parents would let him see Nelson after all.
“Any time after ten.” And as if on cue, Eric’s phone beeped. His dad raised an eyebrow.
“Is that from him?”
Eric swiped the screen to confirm and nodded. “I sent him a text to say I couldn’t stay over. He says his mom can drive me home. Would eleven be OK?” He mentally crossed his fingers, knowing his normal curfew for Saturday night was ten-thirty.
“Very well. Send us a text when you leave, and if there are any problems, let me know, and I’ll pick you up or get you a taxi.”
“Thanks, Dad. Are you going to Rob’s baseball game?” Their father usually did, since he’d been a competent batter in high school and liked to see his eldest son play.
“I might not be able to be there from the beginning, but I’m definitely going. Will I see you there?”
“Uhm, maybe. But is it OK, if I don’t join you?”
“You ashamed of your old man, Eric? Or of your boyfriend?” The joking tone and the playful shove made Eric roll his eyes. No doubt, this was where Rob got his disposition for teasing. His dad left with a final admonition to behave.
Ten minutes later Rob barged in, “OK, hot shot, are you ready to go? I bet Nelson is eager to see you and get on with some kissing and cuddling.”
“Will you shut up, for Christ’s sake! I don’t want Mom to change her mind about me going.”
“Nah, no risk of that. She knows you’re head over heels about Nelson, and I told her he’s a great guy with a heart of gold, but quite shy and too nice to take advantage of my virgin brother.”
Eric wanted to strangle Rob; the big oaf seemed to relish butting in and making his younger brother cringe. But maybe he hadn’t ruined things this time and anyway yelling at Rob for interfering never seemed to work. So Eric just sighed, picked up his small backpack and his jacket and followed Rob to the car.
“I hope you don’t expect me to pick you up tonight. I’m going out with Melanie after the game,” Rob said as he backed out of the drive.
“No, Nelson’s mom will drive me home, when they get back.” Oops, wrong thing to say.
“Does Mom and Dad know that you and Nelson will be alone all evening?”
“No, and don’t tell them.”
“Sure, bro. I’m not going to prevent you from finally getting laid.” Rob’s leer made Eric want to smack him.
“Honestly, Rob. I bet you didn’t sleep with Melanie on the first date.”
“Nope, but I sure wanted to. Or as least get to third base. Fucking is a big deal for girls, the first time. Though I suppose it is for guys too. But I can’t see the problem with exchanging blow jobs.”
Eric tried not to think about getting a blow job from Nelson. He didn’t want to throw a boner and give Rob more ammunition. Not that his brother needed any encouragement. He soon broke the silence with a quick poke on Eric’s leg.
“Don’t tell me you haven’t thought about Nelson going down on you. When I was your age, sex was on my mind pretty much all the time.”
Eric finally found the right answer, “Seems it still is, you horn dog. Why this sudden interest in my sex life, Rob? Is Melanie refusing to put out? Or is there another reason?”
Was there a slight hesitation before Rob laughed and shook his head? Eric wasn’t sure, and anyway, just then is when they arrived at Nelson’s house. His brother slapped his shoulder.
“There you go, Eric. Hope to see you at the game, but if I don’t, have fun with your boyfriend. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
Eric jumped out of the car, slammed the door and waved Rob away. Before he’d gone halfway up the drive to the house, Nelson opened the front door and stood there, smiling at him. Eric forgot his nosy brother and his worried parents. Nothing else mattered except the handsome guy waiting for him. The thought of kissing Nelson made his heart soar.
