Here Kitty, Kitty - 81. Final Epilogue

Everyone gathered in the large meeting room of the den. All the people who had started out on the mission, plus all the rescued people, plus extras like Tristan’s father. It was standing room only.

The gathering was an informal goodbye celebration. It had been over a month since Cheryl had been killed. The council had ratified the group's actions and the case was closed.

Now was the time for everyone to decide where they went from this point on.

“This feels like the end of a story,” Kitryn remarked as everyone made themselves as comfortable as possible.

“Not the end of a story,” Tristan corrected. “The end of a chapter and the beginning of a new one.”

Kitryn rolled his eyes. “Of course you’d come up with something sappy.”

Tristan stuck his tongue out and yelped when his mate poked him in the ribs.

“Act your ages, both of you,” Carl rumbled. “And remember, my mate, your father is right next to you seeing your immature behaviour.”

Tristan flushed and gave a guilty glance to his grinning father.

Elder Patrick rapped hard on the table. “Firstly, I would like to think everyone present and not present that helped with the rescue operation. I think the final death tally for our side was three and their families have been informed. They have also been told that they can seek aid from our den anytime they need to.

“Next, I would like to make it clear that anyone here is welcome to stay in the den. We have space to accommodate almost all of you and if you were all to ask to stay more arrangements can be made.”

Kitryn was the first to shoot his hand up. “We want to stay. However, we would like permission to build a house next to the den, though still on den land. Simon and I believe this place is perfect to raise the kits and we would have people to train with and train the kits as they grow up.”

Patrick nodded. “You are all most welcome. I’ll send one of my enforcers to meet with you later to help you decide on a plot of land.”

Kitryn nodded and lent back into his mate’s arms.

Helen spoke up next. “My family and I are headed home tomorrow. I have a lot of council work to catch up on and Karen and her mate have agreed to come to stay with my mate and me for a while to recover.”

Tristan grinned up at his father. “I am taking Carl and my father to my old home. My mother has been released from the local council outpost where Kersin had her held. She is currently trying to repair the damage to my family. Obviously, she wants her mate with her and she has also asked for Carl and me to come and help out. We will, of course, keep in contact with everyone and when we get sorted out you must all come and visit.”

Carl nodded. “My ex-bonded mate has been found and is now keeping my coven on their toes. She had been taken but escaped. She then hid in a nearby forest as she was too injured to get home. I sent a signed authorisation and she is currently continuing her role as my second until my mate and I return.”

Brian pulled Angel tighter into his arms. “The docs gave me the all-clear a couple of weeks ago. Now everything is all cleared up my mate and I will be returning home. We have everyone’s contact information and you are all always welcome to visit our land-side home. I would invite you to our water home, but I think you may have trouble seeing much depending on how long you can hold your breath. Although, we do have access to a few pieces of diving equipment if people are really curious about the sea.”

Kitryn grabbed a nearby glass and raised it high in the air.

“Here is to new friends and a new chapter.”

The cheers were loud and could be heard outside the den.

This may be the end of this story, but I will be revisiting these characters as soon as I can with a few short scenes.
I would like to send a thank you to everyone who has made with story possible.
Thank you to @Timothy M. for all his hard work editing and not losing his patience with me for some of my very repetitive mistakes.
Thank you to the admins of GA who give me a place to post my stories where I can get such good help and advice when I need it.
And last but definitely not least I want to thank my lovely readers. You are the ones who keep me writing and your comments/reactions to my stories mean a lot.
Thank you all

This may be the end of the story but I think it’s the beginning to more about the characters and what they are doing now that they don’t have to worry about Cheryl anymore. Thanks for the great opportunity to read this great story and to get to know the characters in it.

I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you for reading and commenting

Beautiful story but I think in the end u just wanted it to end so it’s not perfect but I still like it thanks

In all honesty the last few chapter were completely unplanned, and therefore less well thought out. They were written in response to reader comments. The last chapter was written as a set up for the shorts that will be written.

I hope you still enjoyed the story and enjoy the shorts when they are posted.

Such a riveting story and beautiful brain child! Thank you so much for sharing it with us 🤗. I will miss your weekly updates 😢. I would love to read more about the kits and Tristan- all the characters we came to love! Will be watching for any short stories 🤗🥰

The thanks for the idea for this story should go to @Cia as it was an expansion of one of the word games she posted a while back that started it.

I promise i am already working on the shorts and a new story. I am hoping to start posting them next month. I want to be far enough ahead that if i have to miss weeks due to RL you as readers won't miss a chapter.

I know it is how this story started, but I was annoyed by the short chapters. Thank goodness the wonderful characters and plot more than made up for it! I think sometime in the near future I will binge this entire story. It will be even more enjoyable when not chopped up!  Thanks again for sharing this terrific story!

A a reader i must admit that i don't read the flash stories until they are completely finished, because like you i get annoyed at the short chapters.

However, as an author i do these flash stories so that i can guarantee to my readers they have at least something to read from me each week (well, most weeks). I am working on a longer story but it will be a long time until that is ready even for editing as i am having to write in my spare time of which i don't have a lot.

I am glad you liked the characters and i hope you enjoy it on your reread when you get time to do it.

I did love this story with its great plot and characters.  I agree with your ideas about flash stories completely.  Unfortunately, since I read the story after it is finished, I cannot participate in the comments like I normally would.  I know it would be a lot of work, but it would be great if the story was rewritten in the normal story format.  Looking forward to reading more of your stories.  Thanks again for your work.
