tim's Bits and Pieces - 46. Visions

i am a moody, quiet person ... i see things, feel them ... i dream and think often of my end, last days. Lately, that time feels closer and closer. i need to write it.
there's no reason to worry or fear ... it comes to us all. I'm not ill or anything ... it's just my head and what's in it.

Autumn

Around me today flew a tornado of leaves

Each orange, red or gold, the colours of autumn

The changing of seasons isn’t sad to me

It’s just another year of stories to be told

There I am in my skeletal remains
each day more of me falls away
peeled away by me
or just rotten
Words fly, like a murmuration of starlings
and seem to matter less
as does all and everything
I feel little, care less,
as flesh loosens
life means little
important things are not
I live by rote, not desire,
not any longer
and fear, once huge and black
is now meek and mild beside me
I wonder why I trudge forward
I wonder why about much
I simply wish to be warm
when I die.

I can see the end of my road
it is not so far ahead of me
More and more this vision comes
I wish I could push it away
Stop it

the lack of time drives me to

write.

Three sad but beautiful poems. There is nothing wrong with placid. In most Asian cultures, this mode of greeting of the end-of-life transition is ideal when a person can be calm about it. And these poems remind me of some the Zen poems by Ikkyu. So, that is a great compliment.

I love the serenity of the first one. It's a perfect blend of sensual experience and deeper, more personal meaning. Thank you as always for sharing your gift with us. Muah

Dylan Thomas said do not go gently ... i think we need to fight as long as we can, but there comes a point, when it is time to allow life's flow to take us peacefully. And we need to accept it, both for ourselves and the ones who, hopefully, sit in vigil.

We were walking home from voting on a windy bright day when the first one came to me.. happened. I remembered what you often say ... it's little things and memories we, as poets, need to record. The little bits that make up life.  Your words came to me as the wind picked up and made a vortex of bright leaves. oxooxox

Hugs and love tim; but I understand the feelings you've expressed.
