tim's Bits and Pieces - 7. Life on Meds

after a week of new meds, twice. i ask, will i be able to write? my self-doubt is a virus and my fear is a mud-slide

Life decided by meds

What in my life is real?

Am I?

Are my words a product of my effort

or the rainbow of pills that I take?

Drugs can be amplifiers

They alter and stretch reality

I look at the world in doubt

with unfocused, tired eyes

My view is skewed, my words sharp

I mourn my creativity

Grateful for those who love me

and sorry to those i hurt.

thanks to those who read...

life on meds is like living on a tight rope

a delicate balancing act where one, slight, small wobble acts likes ripples in a pond

i'm hoping the words and the calm stay

thank you molly ... i'm trying to be calm and quiet ... thanks for you friendship and support xo

I can only imagine how meds like this screw with your perspective on things. I hope the right blend is discovered soon, and you're able to think clearly and feel better, my boy.

I understand your doubt. I still listen for whispers where once the voices were clear and bold. Be patient tim. It's too soon to worry. Let yourself adjust to the meds. Do not let fear and frustration rule. I love you little brother as does mum. Namasté.

i am trying to be calm and quiet, dugh.  i hope you and mum are doing well.  xoxo

Thanks for sharing this introspective poem. I know that drugs can affect mood and thoughts. That's why they are prescribed (or sometimes not), and why we take them. Me = antidepressants. However, I don't for a minute believe they can enhance creativity. I think your words and thoughts are your own, and how you put them together is uniquely you. So shore up that mud slide of fear and keep writing!
