tim's Bits and Pieces - 12. In the Mirror

Fantastic poem, tim. I can see the visuals this is painting very clearly.

I agree with Reader.. it’s also a reminder, I think to start where you are now. To decide to move forward with who you are, take what you’ve learnt, rather than dwell on what could have been.

The work has a solid feel of being anchored in the present , realizing and living the moment . 

I love how your words give us various perspectives to look at what we are and can do, how the view shifts and how the last perspective, now far away from sleep, is full of hope.

Such a positive and powerful poem!

I suppose many people ask themselves whom they are looking at when they look in the mirror because normally you don't look consciously.

The first stanza feels like a defeat whereas the second stanza is reassuring; I especially like the phrase "sloughing off layers of the old" - like a reptile. "The old" is in us but there's always the potential of a good/better "new".

Thanks deville ... we cannot live in the past, though we often try, and we cannot live in the future. So the present it is.

i'm glad you found it positive, it is supposed to be ultimately. Sometimes life is like something you cannot tame, no matter how hard you try. Sometimes you just need to hold on .. but then it calms enough for you to gain control.   Thanks for reading xo

I liked this immensely. Mirror poems can be tricky, but you’ve done marvelously.
