tim's Bits and Pieces - 69. The Compassionless Ape

Live as well as you can today

For tomorrow is a dream—a may be

And if we live that dream, luckily

All we have of significance

is, each other

Compassionless

arrogant apes are we

Blind to all but gold

We hate and lash out

Afraid of differences

like inexperienced children

Rather than do the hard work

of the truth

This line really resonated with me. I know these kids...

“Afraid of differences / like inexperienced children...”

This also sounded like harmony in my head:

“All we have of significance / is, each other”

Thank you for the gift of your words today.

You would certainly know that kids dont know what they dont know.  i am really learning this from watching peter deal with new experiences.  Thank you very much for reading and your comments.

Really good writing as usual Tim! Although I can see and know a few compassionless arrogant apes, I would like to feel better about most people. To paraphrase Anne Frank, "I would still like to believe most people are basically good." I appreciate that your writing always provides food for thought. Thanks.

Lots of people are good, I believe that.  The reason for this poem can be read above. If i can provide food for thought, that's a great thing.  Thanks Jeffrey.

Fantastic, tim. The hard work of the truth is difficult for people who would rather live in their bubbles of comfort. your words remind us to consciously poke through the membrane. Great seeing a poem from you again. Cheers

Thank You, Sir.  The truth can be hard, but once you start to live there, it's pretty comfortable. i'm writing a little these days.  i hope You are keeping well, Sir.
