tim's Bits and Pieces - 47. Autumnal Thoughts

i am cold in here, but it looks colder out there. and as i gaze out at the world... i wonder and write

A part of my heart is empty

Fallow, now you’ve gone

Though you won’t, I lay in the dark

Wishing you’d return

Thick layers of gray cloud cover the skies
Leaves cling like limpets to branches
while cold fall winds whip them to a frenzy
And you land on our balcony, rounded in the cold
Cheeping and chirping as you hunt for seeds
I wonder what you think about or, if you do
Soon colder air will come and I worry for you
Where do you shelter, while we huddle inside?

Autumn is turmoil; a time of harvest
a laying down of bounty
which will keep us through the cold
white of winter sleep

These beautiful poems each talk to my heart about autumn and the coming winter. You observe the small birds so well, and I wonder with you about them.

I've read these several times today, and each time, they move me in different ways. The emotions can be felt in these and makes them feel even more real. You have a great talent, my brother, and I thank you for sharing it with us.

Each poem is different, but taken together they immediately brought to mind the vintage song, "Autumn Leaves".  Thanks for sharing these reflections.
