The Journey Back
In shadows where silence reigns
My weary heart no longer sings
The light withdraws from this hollow space
Each day’s a night, with no breath till dawn.
The world turns gray, all colours fade
Frost devours all the warmth of life.
My mind’s adrift on the starless depth
Where hope is only a foolish dream
Yet somewhere on this bleak, cold sea
Is the fragile thread of a quiet song,
It dares to sing of strength thought lost
A single voice against the dark
For fires may rage, and black dogs howl,
But even they bluster, then go
From the cooling ash, life takes form—
With quiet strength, I am reborn.
