in the darkness your gentle fingers and lips bring solace
they soothe my fevered mind but mania burns through the drugs
drugs designed for sleep—that blank and empty void—cannot
cannot keep my mind fettered and quiet
sleep, is a dream, just out my reach and i abandon it
yet i am trapped in this cycle of angst and worry
i beg for escape, but there is none at least not yet
and words batter me, they shove me and hurt me and i do not want
want to read them. Read them or write them
yet here i am as they push their way from me
leaving wounds which
do not heal
but you hold me, your scent eases me, and i close my eyes as your
your cool lips kiss my brow, and your whispered words bless me
