I wonder how many trails its left?
Years of aimless wondering … wandering
With miles to go before endless
Peace
Sometimes it sleeps, so is still
And the rocky paths are quiet then
Dreams are clouds in my mind’s eye
For a time, I drift on them
Safe from it that lays below
But too soon its awake
Once more
It walks, slithers on and on
Timmy, can you hear me?
Hiding under a favoured rock—
I cower
Not seeing
Not saying
Hands cover my ears
But it laughs, because we both know
It is me
