tim's Bits and Pieces - 44. In Winter

Fifteen geese fly in formation in the gentle morning-blue sky

I watch them in awe as the honk their way along

What do they know of my darkness,

of this world, that covers the land in stone?

They are unchanged, surrendering only to the call of nature

What do they care for technology or us?

They wing their way south, to warm winters

While we wear texting gloves to view life through our phone.

I was just watching the woodpecker that lives in the trees in front of my window and thinking about him/me in same lines. But of course my words could never capture that in the way you do it. And I'm not talking just about different language entirely (my mother tongue is some small european thing spoken by a couple of million people…)
