tim's Bits and Pieces - 86. Chapter 86 Mirror

1

Lately change has come
It entered without a knock
or announcement

But today I’m not who I was
I stare, and the glass is cold on
my forehead, but,

The mirror holds no answers

2

Reflection
seeing the past before you

Remembrance
thinking about what’s come before

Recollection
checking the files

Reality
the mirror holds all your truth

3

In the mirror I found the face of God

I turned away

Not believing or wanting to

There is nothing godly about me

Yet they say we’re made in His image

But we cannot see His heart

… can we?

These conjure complicated pictures for me. We often do not want to see ourselves reflected in the various mirrors that surround us; glass mirrors, other's eyes or their actions.

I try to think of your meaning, but I can only see my own truth in them. Thank you for sharing them.

Thank you, Michael. xo

I read these through twice, no three times, and my brain is still a jumble of reactions and reflections. Each of these three makes me want to talk about what I saw, because you touch a lot of truth in them. That’s awesome. Thank you.

Thanks, Parker.  i hope you are keeping well.

I frequently  don't "get" what a poet is saying, but there resonate.

i'm glad these spoke to you ... you'd don't have to find my meaning, All that's important is what they say to you. Thanks, Kitt xo

Like others here, I feel mixed things looking at these pieces. But ... there's one bit that stands out to me more than the rest. The last two lines of the last poem.

But we cannot see His heart

… can we?

I love the doubt at the end. Can we really not know what is intended by whatever force created us? Or is it just out of reach at this moment, waiting for us to find it?

Nice pieces, tim.

Doubt or maybe just a question.  Thanks for your thoughts.  xo

As with so many of your poems, there is a lot to think about. I liked what other commenter had to say. I always marvel how many interpretations you get when many people read the same words. It's always a pleasure to read what you've written. Thanks, Tim.

Thanks, Jeffrey. i love all the interpretations as well.  i don't like or understand every poem i read but that's okay. it doesn't mean the work isn't worthwhile, because it was to the poet and will be to someone else. i just glad some people like some of the things i choose to post.

Thanks again. xo

I read this earlier today and thought about it for a while, particularly the third, which raises some interesting issues about who we are and where we came from.  Thanks for giving me something to think about.  I went away a little less cynical.  Progress :)

i was raised in the Catholic church... I'm way beyond lapsed, but i often find myself looking at those beliefs and teachings.   I wonder about Gods and Angels and supernatural beings ... there is something about them i cannot touch but i want to ...
