Letter 74
7 April 2016
Dear C,
I have been painting a lot recently.
The moment they lock us up at 6 pm - I get my brushes and paints out and I sink in to the world of colours. It's so liberating. And I am using the cheapest art tools possible, so I wonder what kind of colours I could achieve using something more decent.
I finished the painting of the old man. I painted an old men sitting on a park bench.
As a kid I remember seeing a lot of older men sitting on park benches near my house, so I drew the inspiration from this memory.I am happy with this painting - I managed to stylize it the same way as I did with the woman with herbs piece. It's very watery and dreamy. It's all so new to me and I am enjoying being creative.
I also painted a head of an elephant - the same way. Maybe it should be my signature style? I wish you could see my artwork one day and tell me what you think about it...
It turned out I will not be attending the second level of music production classes as they made a mistake and there are no spaces available at this moment. So I got wing cleaning instead. It's OK. It's literally a 20 minutes job in the morning. Perfect for lazy people who prefer to stay in bed all morning or play pool downstairs. For me it's a great opportunity to create. I can sketch a lot during that time and then paint in the evenings.
I miss sushi... I know it's random, but I saw a TV ad yesterday where they were making sushi. I wish I could just try one piece.
Do you remember when we attempted to make our own sushi? It looked more like an unbaked cake. How the hell people can roll rice to create sushi pieces? It's beyond me. Well, at least we had fun. And we still ate whatever we created. I shall have it on my bucket list now: learn how to make sushi.
There is a new guy on our landing - at the very end of it. He looks like a serial killer. Very, very aggressive. Bold, skinny and tall. Around 30 years old. He has this extremely piercing, evil look. I know I shouldn't be judging the book by its cover, but it's just my observation. And he got 14 years behind bars. My brain cannot really digest such information.
You know, before I never really paid attention to news that someone got 10 or 20 years in prison. It was just another news. Another number. Now when I am locked up here, it's beyond me how can someone spend that much time in prison.
Well, David (I mentioned him before) has been in prisons since the 60's. This is beyond surreal.
How are you doing C?
You know, I had this strong urge to call you today, to hear the sound of your voice again, but I didn't. I am learning how to respect the fact you don't want me in your life anymore.
Look after yourself.
Forever yours,
Sebastian
